Electric Start EC300

Anyone heard any updates on the EC300 electric start? Noticed one dealer had them advertised on his website saying they were coming in December??

Will we be able to retrofit the older bikes or do I have to start being extra nice to the lovely wife?

I too am interested in the electric start. My tune has changed.
I was once pretty against the idea for my bike. But with all the course work and set up Ive been doing this last year. It sure would be nice. Really, it has nothing to do with getting older.

Sissy.

I'm a believer too, after watching my brother in law save it over and over again because of the electric starter. Whodathunk?

latest I've heard is they are supposed to be released in spain in jan so don't think the rest of the world will see it before feb-march? once you have a e-start on any bike I think it would be hard to go back, I've had 3 gasgas's and then a spell on a wr250 but I'll be back when the 2010 300 gets here and can't wait!

I'd rather be a sissy than a Beaver! :p

No really, I think as far as helping to get out of tough spots like mountain single track where foot placement while kick starting, on steep inclines, and when your racing and tired and stall cause the going is tough, a quick push of the button and away you go is a huge advantage.

That's pretty much what I miss, having had e-start previously, & perhaps I'm ageing a little.
Anything that helps me keep riding longer is a good thing in my view. ;)

Cheers for the info gg3. I'll be seeing a dealer hopefully tomorrow. Will see what they can offer.

Has anyone seen the new motor yet? I thought I recalled that the cases would be smaller on the new motor. Does that mean different internals?

gg3

Have you got any more info on the e-start 300 ?

Is e-start going to be available in all 2 stroke models ?

Very tempting...

Actually I would take one now, but I'm off to do a preride of Baja 1000 in March, so better hold off till I get back. Just in case I end up owning the Honda 450 rental bike, ouch.

Hall's just updated their site: 2011 XC 300 Electric Start $TBA* June Production

I have been told e-start production will start end of march or April but at this point June would not surprise me either. Maybe dealers will have their 2010 models by then:rolleyes:

I ordered an e start EC300 from Picton Motorcycles . Spoke to them last week ,and they are supposed to be arriving in late february ,early march .

Hi!

Any news on the electric start EC250/300? Will it be a new engine or a bolt-on kit (Dirt Rider mag mentioned the latter)?

Waiting for any reply!

I am tempted to have a plated and electric start 2T... avoiding KTMs...

Here's a copy of what is happening in Australia from the Importer, copied from DBW! :)

As the Importer of Gas Gas motorcycles we follow customers concerns from forums like DBW, but are always reluctant to comment due to not wanting to turn forums into an advertising or propaganda source by distributors.

Solo Motorcycle Imports would like to thank our Gas Gas supporters for their loyalty to our brand and would like to inform DBW readers of some issues that they have been concurred about. Having forums like DBW is always our best guidance to what customers' requests and needs are, so we can see what is necessary to maintain continued support of our product.

As many members of DBW would know Europe, including Spain, is suffering major financial difficulties. Through all these difficulties Gas Gas has been able to maintain their position in the market and for 2010. Australia will be offering 12m warranty and an extended model range that will include the EC250 4T, increasing our dealer network as well as looking forward to the EC300 electric start model later in the year.

The EC300 Electric has been delayed due to a patent that was submitted by another manufacture that has caused Gas Gas to re develop its electric start EC300. Component re-manufacturing, re-tooling and testing will see the EC300 electric production date delayed and to be announced as soon as we can. We apologize for this delay knowing that customers have deposits on this model. We will keep customers and dealers up dated as we find out more information from Gas Gas.

In regards to the Australian EC300R model, the Black and White bike that was available as early as October 2009 in Australia is our current model for 2010. We are the only country in the world that request the R model to be ADR'd. The only way GasGas can do this is so early in the 2010 production run is by using the 2009 model frame to base the bike on. Then they update the carby, suspension, exhaust, disc brakes, etc to 2010 R specs. Next year we have hopefully negotiated a way to see the 2011 EC300R be the same model as other market 300R's, still exclusively ADR'd for Australia. The only down side to this is that it will only be available in early 2011 as opposed to the previous October like other R models have been.

We thank you once again for your continuing support and hope that this will help clarify some concerns that DBW members are having and if you have any other questions regarding Gas Gas models please feel free to contact your dealer or Solo Imports.

Regards
