heres what alot of guys use around here for a computer, watchdog 2000http://www.dugasengineering.com/,you can mount it directly to your top clamp, but I have another great product to mount your computer, watch, roll chart and your damper mounts under your bars, neat setup, cleans up everything as well www.ptenduro.com heres a picture of this setup on my 300( havent mounted my damper quite yet)
and am happy with it. I got it for under $150 on eBay.
My buddie has the Watchdog. Also a nice unit. One thing though is that the ICOs will auto calicrate to the course markers. The Watchdog doesn't do that (at least from what my buddy can figure out). I find that to be a nice feature.
I think the Watchdog is easier to use during a race becuase you get more info in a single display. With the Pro Comp, I have to switch displays to get the same amout of info.
The ICO Checkmate would solve that, but the Watchdog looks like a tougher unit.
In the end, they are all pretty good. I went with the Pro Comp cuase I could get one cheap and wasn't sure how much I'd really use it. I races all last season and got quite abit of use out of it, but will probalby only be able to make one or two races this year (long drives and gas getting $$$).
I use a Watchdog also. Very easy to use. You don't have to enter the resets and speed changes in order. You can just enter all your resets, then frees, then speeds as they are usually given to you before race day. The 'puta sorts them by mileage for you. It's also very compact and easy to read at a glance. The maker tells his story on the website about not having the Autocal. Maybe he really doesn't have it because of a patent, but the bottom line is the second hand on the clock.
I use the Pro Comp as well. I am used to it. It does the job. Never breaks. I paid $150 4 years ago. I don't see the need to change something that isn't broke. You can do just fine on a Pro Comp if you don't want to spend big dollars on the computer plus billet mounts.
i have a trail tech on my 200. it tells me how fast im going, how far ive gone, all the stuff that is necessary.
i did have a mounting issue because i have Reikon tapered handle bars, the little plastic bracket didnt fit around the bar.
there were a couple of empty threads on my top triple clamp so i got a bit of aluminium angle stuff, drilled a hole in it and got an 8mm screw to screw the bracket to the triple clamp.
then i pulled the little circle clamp of the speedo bracket and used the little screw to mount it on the al angle. works a charm.
ill take a picture of it tomorrow and post it up. to cold outside now and to dark
