Engine Buzz

:confused:Well , when I shut the throttle off I get a buzz. I know I check all the usually stuff. Heres the run down of what I checked, I installed EE Rad guards and then removed them still there. Removed the plastic skid plate, still there. Placed foot on pipe the buzzing drop a bit, but over all still there. I did notice on the cylinder head the top mounting hole is not used. On the older gasser this was mounted to the front frame, but dont see any holes. Does the 12/13 not use the upper cylinder mount anymore. Any input I am will to try.

Its normal that they vibe a bit and it doesn't take much to make noise. Do you notice it when you ride? or only on the stand? My pipe o-rings are properly blown out at the moment and it makes the engine sound like its going to blow up.

Try loosening off all the engine mounts and then starting at swingarm pivot do them back up letting the engine fall into a natural position. No head stays on the 2012/2013's from memory.

Two things have really quietened mine down recently:

1 - some hose over the exhaust springs
2 - high temp RTV + o-rings on the exhaust spigot

It's so quiet I can now hear other worrying engine noises :D

Better believe it. The GG is like one of those old wind up clocks. Near unbreakable, but sounds like a ticking time bomb! Hahah! I found the source of my muchos vibros today. Nut had rattled loose on the back of the lower pipe mount (where it meets the frame). Still pulled the whole pipe for a bit of high temp silicone loving. She'll be good for a few more kms now! :D

That was my next stop was to silicone the exhaust outlet. My even try the hose around the springs. TK jake with the mount , no place to attach it too. Work on many of these gasser but this is my 1 st. Use to the buzz from 300's . Just wanting to make sure that all is tight and ready to go. Oh Jake your jetting is the bomb in a great way that is made her standup and run for sure. Save me a lot of time for sure.

300s are like that, just some extra vibes over the 250s. Viton orings and some tubing on the springs really help noise from the spigot area. If your pipe is even barely tweaked, and I mean barely, pipe/spigot fit is compromised and orings get worn fast on one side, causing the pipe flange to make contact with the spigot directly and make noise. Head stays disappeared in '12 with the new stiffer frame, same head casting used.

The only thing that stops my head pipe rattling against the exhaust spigot is a liberal amount of Red High-Temp Permatex and the addition of a third retention spring. If I had the gumption, I'd add a fourth spring.

My bike made an awful rattle new. What I had to do was machine a copper washer to fit between the cylinder and the exhaust pipe. This fixed the problem. I thought I posted this with pics but can't find it at the moment. I'll look for it.

That is most likely your chain. You notice that a lot on road transfer sections where your on and off the throttle a lot with little load, and your bored and think too much about the sounds the bike makes.;)
