Engine Vibration

Mine is a 2011 300. There really is no excuse for something like this IMO. I am sure I could have gotten the rocker support warrantied but it was only $56 so I decided not to mess with it. I will check everything when putting it back together. I am going to try and be sure it is all lined up square before tightening so I do not break anything again. I have a feeling it had been broken for a long time but it is not a spot I look at often. If anyone is unclear of the part I am referring I can post a pic.

I'm sure I've seen a pic on the forum of at least one other 2011 which has had this same part replaced under warranty. Post the pic and I'll see if I can find the other one.

Yes, mine is the same part but it is broken on the other end. It is at the top where the bolt for the axle slides through. Between the engine and the swingarm. I would think normally there would be almost no stress on that part.

You need to determine if there is stress on the part when it is torqued down on an uneven or misaligned surface. Everything should be square with the frame. Start with just the pivot shaft. Add the sleeves, add the brackets. If something is not cool with the frame alignment, document it all and peruse a warranty claim through your dealer. Your right, in 2011 there is no excuse for this.

It is visibly out of square. I am going to try and get everything squared up when I reassemble it. If I can not get it lined up I will pursue a warranty claim.

Hope things go back together smoothly for you Jeff.

I have had some success after replacing the pipe mounts and realigning all the engine mounts. The vibrations are definately reduced. They are still there as you'd expect them to be but the bike doesn't feel like its going to fall apart anymore. Much more acceptable.

Hello,This is my first post!I also have a 07 300.Love the bike but decided to do something about the vibrations, tried all the mentioned remedies. All having some results but still not good enough.Recently sent motor to Surf and turf for a rebuild and balance.Wow!This thing is truly amazing now.Bob weight was off 20 grams, which is diffently worth addressing. After consulting with me, Steve at surfnturf also removed counter balancer, which can't even be balanced.Spool's up much quicker with way better over rev,and very smooooth! Can,t find a downside.

There is no true "counter balancer" on an '07. You mean the eccentric weight behind the primary gear right? What do you mean by "bob weight"? The crank wheels?

Your correct,I believe it's what gasgas call's an ignition inertia weight.Pretty cool little part ,it's purpose I'm not real sure about.I do believe it to be root cause of vibration or at least a major factor,as vibration is all but gone on my 300.The bob weight is the combined weight of piston, pin, rings&rod.Crank is taken apart and put back together with a solid piece of weight that represents the bob weight so it can be spun so the right amount of weight can be removed or heavy metal added to acheive correct balance. Then reassembled and trued.Sorry I'm so late to reply, long day!Tomorrow I plan to put sreious time on it and may have more feedback would enjoy sharing info.Thank's Bill

Maybe try putting a good size screwdriver under the rear of the motor and see if there is any play. Mine had elongated the rear mount and after repairing it is smooth again.
