Float Pin Problems!

When I tilt the carb to change jets and remove the bowl (while on the bike,) the float pin inevitably drops out the "back" and falls into some crack or crevice to hide. :(

What is the solution for this?? Is there some way to lock it in place?

Thanks,

Jeff

Haha I was confused first time I read it thinking how does the float pin fall. Bowl off ;) of course. Like Rod said, pull the bung plug and you can access both through that. Small flat blade for pilot, or 6mm socket for the main.

I like this carb as you can change the pilot and main real fast, 17mm bung.
Bet your glad you posted now, all sorts of knowledgeable helpful people on here,

Thats funny! pisses me off everytime it happens to me! I would never admit it but since no one knows me here I was doing the samething.

That is awesome, guys! I am embarrassed to admit that I didn't see it, but that is awesome!

Hey, out riding today and removed the 17mm bung, and what to my wondering eyes should appear but...the main jet, and main jet only. I can't seem to access the pilot? This is an '05 DE 300. Did PWK make different size "bungs?"

I lay the bike on its side. Then I rotate the carb so the float bowl is facing directly up. This way the float pin is horizontal and doesn't fall out.

Just incase if you missed it :D Glenn knows his AS1. I havent had to play with one yet.

I did miss it! I read Glenn's post too fast and, not knowing my carb designations, was thinking of the PWK on my KDX - where you have to remove the bowl to change the pilot...and the main!

Good ideas there, Eric. (Off topic, I really want to go to the Gifford Pinchot...)
