Man, the forum has been pretty dead as of late. Have all of you sold off your Gassers and/or quit riding? Just curious if everyone abandoned ship or what!

Hey fellas, still here just not riding much lately.
Still my favourite forum! Have a great day y'all! :)

Still here and still love riding my old GasGas. I keep the bike (my first ever real dirt bike) in San Diego in the corner of a friend's garage and only get to ride it during the winter months when I get tired of the long winters here in Idaho. Get off the plane among palm trees and sun and jump in a friend's truck with my own bike in the back - pretty sweet setup. Stupid covid kept me away for the last 2 years but got to ride it last month. The bike is thrashed on the outside (OEM plastics still!) but mechanically it's always been well maintained and good to go. Spent a day going over the bike (oil change, new air filter, safety/torque checked all fasteners, couple new parts) before were supposed to ride 3 days of singletrack but unfortunately engine started making some gnarly sounds within the first 20 minutes during first ride. The plan was to get dropped off in the mountains and ride down to the desert to camp and the bike started making the noise after a point of no return so I was committed to limp the bike all the way to camp. It got me to camp! The noise got louder and louder throughout the day and we thought it was going to grenade, but it didn't. Obviously wasn't able to ride day 2 and 3 as planned. Jumped on the plane back to Idaho and left the bike with a mechanic friend in San Diego. Since then, he pulled the engine, split the cases and discovered that one of the main bearings decided to (nearly) explode. It didn't do any damage to the case or thank goodness no metal debris in the bottom end. Hall's Cycles in Illinois has been great to work with on parts, which are en route to my friend right now. New main bearings and a fresh top end and since I only put 10-15 hrs on it per year the bike should be good for another decade, I hope! My mechanic said the engine is really well made and relative to KTM easy to work on. Have been using this forum the last week and this thread has been especially helpful:

Given my GasGas was my first real dirt bike, learn A LOT from this forum in the last 10 years or so! Now I'm torturing a new TM in the Idaho mountains but still love jumping on the old GasGas. Feels like home. Suspension isn't quite as amazing as the TM's, but otherwise ergos and performance are just about the same. More testament to GasGas performance and build quality.

Anyway, just wanted to say howdy and thanks for the collective support from this forum!

Cheers

Last time I was on a dirt squirt was July last year. And that was an 84 IT200 at a vinduro event.

Down here in the Malevolent Communist Dictatorship of Victoriastan in Australia, we have had a myriad of restrictions which made it very difficult to manage an outing.

I did finally get the starter working well though.

Still here, I rode last Sunday in the Snow.
I have a 2004 280 Pampera, A 2005 DE250, A 2010 EC250 and a 2018 EC250.

It's nice to see some are still alive and kicking in our little online community.

Hmm, 44 views but only a few replies. Must be the ghosts  of former GasGas riders checking in! :D

Still here check in every night Ben building new shop my 8 gasgases have Ben in storage will be home soon

Still here riding my 2011 ec300. I have two other perfectly set up bikes but I ride the gasser instead. The COVID crap has put a lock on things for the last 18 months but I might try to ride this weekend.

Still here. Been doing winter maintenance on both of the Goldwings to get ready for a busy upcoming Long Distance Rally season. Plus I am enclosing the RV building. Hopefully I'll get out to ride in a few weeks.

All fine. Many struggles with problematic bike, now seems to be OK.

Thanks again to gasgasman for certain parts shipping.

Ah, I'm an idiot. I always seem to forget that while this is prime riding season where I'm at it's the off season for most everyone else. That would explain the big slow down in the forum as of late.

Here

Still dead of winter here in New England. Still on my gassers 01 retired, 09 broken gearbox and my 18 waiting for snow and ice to leave. Almost bought 22 rieju! but me being cheap interfered..... Also bought my 17 sherco back.

I'm still here, sold my 2010 300 and replaced it with a 2003 250txt trials bike, but got my eye on a 2018 gg300 i miss loosing traction

Ribs finally healed, jeez it's been forever.

But C19 has cleaned up all the local trail rides as too hard to run them, or maybe too risky will get canceled. There's a price to pay I guess.

Bought an XTrainer foe giggles, but keeping GG for certain rides as I love it.
