gear box oil

hi guys just bought a gas gas ec 250 2011 and what you guys using to get the gear box oil in with the hole is about 10mm wide i have tryed pipes and tubes but there must be something made for the job

I found a funnel with a tube about 2 foot long and it has a little plastic reducer jobbie that just fits that itty bitty hole. I use safety wire to hang it on my handlebars and then pour the oil in the funnel and let it drain down. It takes a little longer than most bikes but it works pretty well. I can fill up the funnel with about 300cc's of oil and walk away and do something else while its draining.
Check at the auto parts stores...I think I got mine at Autozone.

The best method i have found is to lay the bike over on its side. Then i cut the end out of a very large rifle case, i put that into the motor and i put my funnel into the rifle case. No more mess, goes very fast.

BTW- i asked the same question about 5 months ago. If you use the search feature you will find other responses.

I use a small long funnel that barely works. I have to hold it tight against the motor so it doesn't leak. The easiest thing to do is use a gear oil bottle and cut off the bottom.

Some oil bottles come with a tube extension on the top. I use this tube and stick it in the hole and then squeeze the oil in as normal. Works really well.
Cheers Mark

i use one M12x1,5 "thing" (does not know the english name) like this:

With a small hose and a funnel.

Funnel with the end piece from a tube of selleys no more gaps slide over the end. Slips right in :)

that's a hose barb to threaded metric male pipe adapter. surprisingly hard to find in usa. you can get metric barbs for metric hose, but not with metric thread on the other end.

I use the small pointy top off a gear oil bottle on a old one liter oil jug it fits in the small fill hole well and you can squese the jug to fill it quickly. I have a funnel that fits but it takes awhile for the funnel to empty with the small opening and im not that patient lol.

Hey,do it with a little class.Roll up a hundy dollar bill into a funnel shape then pour the oil in.
Best done with notes of the plastic variety as seen here downunder.

I just drilled hole to GRO oilbottle cap and installed half meter long plastic hose that fits to oil filling hole. i sealed the cap/hose joint with rubber tube and zip ties. Now I only fill GRO bottle with oil and squeese. Easy, cheap and works fine to me...

I had some time to make this "invention" in last years ISDE here in Finland were we had few factorys rental ISDE bikes to take care of... That's why it was GRO bottle...
