2002 gas gas sm250

confused on what oil to use gas gas recommend 10-30

found putoline 10-40 but its not gear oil but says clutch friendly

also found putoline light gear oil 75w says suitable for boxes that need 10-40 would this be the one to use or would it be to thick ??

Most importantly it needs to be wet clutch friendly, after that it is personal preference. A lot of guys run Rotella, either 15w40 or the 5w40 T6 full synthetic. Personally, I run Amsoil 0W40, although I'm off road only

Thanks but putoline is everywhere here the other brands are not so easy to get hold of, so will it not matter what one ? What's the pros and cons between those 2 ?

I use the 10/40 putoline synthetic engine oil ive found its the best so far or rock oil works well or motul gear oil 10/40
I use these in my cr a ec the fella from the Honda shop recommended it

So I can use t6 in my gearbox?I have a couple gallons of laying around, good news.:)

My 2002 300 was really sensitive to gear oil weight. With Motul it would load up & creep forward when in gear with the clutch in.Changed to RockOil lite gear oil & no more problems.

I run for 15years know Putoline GP10, perfect engine oil for 2stroke MX and offroad.

Tried several brands, but everytime the GP10 was decisive, especially at cold starts with a dragging clutch

I was gonna run atf as I can get it easy and cheap but was worried it might be to thin for lots of road use. Been running castellated power 1 4t in there for ages no issues
