GG in Papua New Guinea.

:) Simply AMAZING!!! the best photo set EVER! Not many people in the world can say they did what you have done... And riding in bicycle helmets too, very cool indeed, I can't believe the history that is right under your wheels. I could spend days just climbing around and looking for artifacts.
I have a new goal... Get to New Guinea and ride a motorcycle! Thanks for the inspiration!

TaaM8 , ( BIG TOOL ) :D
I have been wanting to add some more pics to my Album .
But I'm on dial up so it takes a long time .
Tonight I'll add some more .
I hope for your sake you make it to Papua New Guinea one day .
You will not be disappointed. Kell

Hey Kim , Did you ever go out for a Chinese Meal ?
" A number 5 and a greenie " ;)

And the greenies still don't have twist tops .

Aah, the bettlenut.
No never tried it, looks to disgusting.
Hardest case is the way they advertise it, like this:

1 Bettlenut 50 Toea (Cents)
3 Bettlenuts 2 Kina (Dollars)

Their reason is that if you can afford 3, you must be rich and therefore able to pay more. Go figure.

Another good one, that got me a couple of times, it the pidgin word dead.
A couple of times, one of the staff came in and said such and such were dead, laughing out loud, like it was hilarious. I usually panicked and went to find out more, only to see the "dead" person walking thru the door.

Later I found out that it meant falling over, and to actually die, you had to go "dead pinish". (p is pronounced like f).

Ask them about colours. Goes like this.

Local: its red.
Me: Is it this red (pointing to something red)
Local: no, more red.
Me: Is it this red.
Local: No, less red

Can go on for hours. You should try it over the phone, Ha.

Ah, good memories

Kim

Yes I've tried all that Kim . :)
This is the main road ( Hubert Murrey Highway ) from Port Moresby to the International Air Port .
Taken at Boroko . Next to the old Arcadia Picture Theatre .

Yeah, its funny.
When you live there for a while, you don't see all poverty, slum and filth (nor the razor wire).
I'm off to Morocco (bike riding) next month and was going to call into PNG and catch up with a couple of people, but the detour nearly doubled the ticket price, so I flagged it. Shame its so expensive to get there (from NZ anyway).

Whats the trails scene like in OZ ?

I just competed at my second club trails (I'm 44) and should have started long ago, great fun. Definitely makes you a better enduro rider where in the crap.

Cheers

Talking of razer wire .
This was just a normal Hardware near the Compound where I was staying .
This Local had just bought a Battery fluro light for his house .
He was very proud to show it off .

Kell,

Great pics. I would love to go to PNG sometime. Post all you have.

BTW, I see you guys are all on trials bikes. That sends a pretty serious message as to what the riding must be like over there.

Photography and dirt bikes, my two passions. BTW, how safe is PNG? The standard of living doesn't look that high and that always makes me wonder about safety.

Thanks for looking Greg .
The reason I didn't add a lot more Pics right away is .
I didn't want to monopolise the whole Picture Forum .
But if it's OK ? I will add some more soon .
Tomorrow is Fathers Day in OZ . Not much time then .
So after that if wanted .
I also have Pics relating to security in PNG .
Cheers for now . Kell
