Gg vs ktm

Yeah, I earned that one!
Hey, your old bike at 50mm forks, right? then you got the 11 or 12 and they dropped down to 45mm? I have to go to my daughter's first communion sunday or I would say FOREST! But that will probably be rained out anyway :)

ktm vs. gas gas

hi, my name is mike. i was a ktm owner for 28 years. and was always very please with the bikes. i most years bought a new bike. this past year i had a 2012 300 xc-w. loved it untill i rode a friends 2012 300 xc-r gas gas . i bought one and set it up with the right rear spring for my wt. tuned the fork and rejetted it. i rode national enduros for 20 years.and was a bmw and ktm factory trained tech. this bike is truly a ktm beater. better torque, smother power, way out turns the katooms. and feels way lighter, even though it is about the same wt. i believe the fit and finish is ducati quality. bullet proof. if you buy one i have a new ohlins rear spring i will sell for a good price.. was never on the bike. i ordered it and bought a heavier spring for me. this is a 596-60 good for a 240-250 lb. rider. thanks mike

I have a 2009 KTM 250 SX and a 2011 GasGas 300 Race (48mm forks). All I can say is I keep working on the KTM to get it to handle like the GasGas. The front wheel on the GasGas is just so planted. The KTM is very light. I like the motors in both although they are different. My one wish on the GasGas is an adjustable powervalve.

I used to ride a 2007 ktm 450 xc, and now ride a 2011 EC 300 Nambo. I am 6' tall, 170- 175 lbs and I find the gasser very comfortable.

As soon as I got on it I felt the sharp handling immediately, I do notice the lower peg height but I find it a very minor inconvenience. It took a few rides to get some thing sorted out to my liking but every bike does no matter what brand. I added a sub-mount damper so it raised the bars which is my preference and I am less fatigued riding it than the 450.

The first day I rode it, I also rode a buddies 2012 ktm 300 xcw and it felt very wide to me at the tank and felt large between my legs, that is when I knew that for me the gasser was the way to go. Now that the bike is where I want it I couldn't be happier with it! My next bike will also be a gasser for sure, and with a little taller seat height, it may be perfect! :D

I rode a couple of the older '07 zokes, they were awesome and are what initially sold me on the gasgas, the shit on the '11s, well they were shit.
You have got to be kidding, the most wretched forks I've had in years. I even have two sets, one tuned by the recommended tuner here and the other set by somebody else. My stock 500exc forks are light years better than either of the revalved Zokes.

I can't even fathom how forks could have possibly got worse.

Other than the forks it's one of my favourite bikes.

They are the same. Quality sucks compared to a more modern CC fork but they work OK at lower speeds. Key is heavy springs and more rebound, light compression valving/mid valve.

I think that extra few lbs. is a big reason why the GG is so planted and stable. Like a Husky four stroke in the rocks without the school bus steering in the trees.

Les worked on mine, one of the early 11's, said that they were shit compared to what GG Zokes were a few years before. The 07 that I rode had been worked on by Les. Glenn, is right, He and Brent tele-worked on my 11 and that is what we finally would up doing and it is pretty good now. Heavier spring, i have a .47/.48 in the front and may go to two .48s, added rebound because it didn't have any with the heavier than stock springs and he helped me build a mid-valve.
Thanks again guys!

Hi Rob
I read in one of your posts that you have a flexx bar that you are not using. I am wondering of you'd care to sell it? BTW....I just purchased my first ever gasser....matter of fact..its my first ever 2t aswell lol. Been running KTM 4 strokes for yrs in the woods. Even had a 950 Super Enduro and a 990 Adventure. But just dodnt use them for what I intended. Just sold my 2010 RMX 450Z amd bought a 2012 ec 300 from the Enduro Engineering owner out of Michigan. Should be getting here in Eastern Canada in a few days. .....End tangeant.....Interested in selling those Flexx Bars?

Thanks.
Dan

Dan, I may just do that. Are you in a big hurry, work has been so nuts that I really haven't been able to get in a good hard ride, I would like to do that before I decide?
