head gasket leak?

Just did RB head mod..First time i put it together i smashed the oring outside of the groove and it leaked coolant right out of the head onto the floor. So i ordered new orings and a gasket for the coolant T that goes on the head (go fasters sent me the wrong one so i made one out of hitemp rtv gasket maker, hope that is ok). The trouble i had was with the orings. They seemed to small so with a mechanics advice to gently stretch them until they fit i got them in and the bike back together. Im slightly paranoid from my first attempt, no coolant leak from outside the engine, but how can i be sure there isnt a leak on the inner oring? bike ran for like ten to fifteen min and lost no coolant (other then from the hose clamp not being tight enough). What would the symtoms of a head oring leak be? The oil that came out of the PV vent was slight runny/milky which has me nervous, but only a few drops came tho...Opinions??

If its pumping into the cylinder you'll know it. The bike will run like poo. You'll smell the coolant burning off. If you put your hand behind the exhaust and rev it you'll feel the water condensation on your hand. And.. You'll be losing coolant unexplainably. Also, if its the internal one you'll have compression and exhaust fumes pushing past the leak into the coolant system. This will over pressure the system and cause the rads to overflow. Usually before the bike is even up to temp. I'm pretty sure you can get testers to check for fuel traces in the coolant too. Quick check. Do you have bubbles in the coolant?

If its leaking externally you'll see it, as you found out.

I usually gentle stretch them between my fingers and put a smear of grease on it which helps hold it down in its groove until the head is on.

I had some aftermaket ones and also some genuine gas gas o rings , the aftermarket ones went in the bin after several failed attemts to get them to stay in the grooves , i stetched them , heated them and tried to hold them with grease , everytime i thought id got them to stay put the popped out again .

The genuine ones however stayed put with a smear of grease:D

Bike ran good and it didnt dump any out of the overflow.. My main concern was the kind of off color of the oil out of the PV vent, but I will spend some time on the bike tonight and keep an eye on the coolant and report back....thank you very much for the hep
