Hose Clamps Removal?

What's the best way to remove the stock clamps on the radiatior hoses. I'm used to the ones with a screw. The reason I'm asking is my girlfriend surprised me with a set of red hoses and I can't wait to put them on. Thanks in advance.

Use a metal pick , insert in the clip opening. Gently pry up to release.
Use a pair of needle nose pliers to reclamp.

The stock clamps are great. I really like how clean they look and they are easy to undo and do back up. But they should only be cycled a few times before you replace them with new ones. I had one come undone on my 125. It had quite a few cycles on it though. The screw type hose clamps will fail just the same too.

Hey guys

Thanks for all the advice and tips,:) This is just one reason I will be buying another bike soon!!:D

You can also open them with pliers by going from corner to corner diagonally

The little hole just screams insert screwdriver here!! Putting them on is easy with the pliers too! I'm a fan.

How often do you suggest replacing? And does anyone know where we can get these? Do most hardware stores stock them or should I be looking elsewhere? Do they have a particular name?

@ Jakobi : I use something similar to the stock clamps in my business and we call them "Oetiker" Clamps The drink and beverage industry has been using them for many years ! I use them for more permanent hose clamp connections ..

:D:D:D

The ones Jacobi linked to, is one time use only. I use them at work for compressed air tubings, and when they are closed, you can't re open them like the ones on the gasser.

Yeah the ones in the link aren't the stepless 1 ear clamp. Quick google of "stepless 1 ear clamp" turns up some goodies.

I prefer simple name brand stainless wormgear hose clamps, such as Tridon etc. Reliable, cheap, easy to find anywhere & only need one tool to R&R them.

I always have a couple spares in my tool bag, along with some generic heater hose to fix a busted rad hose.

The Oeticker style ones can sometimes be a bastard to R&R and often you can't get at them in tight spaces to pop them off or Replace them.

However, anything is better than those stupid permanent factory press-on stainless rings KTM uses nowadays..........
