I bought a Gasser ('05 EC250)

A fellow club member had a 2005 EC250 that he bought last year off the showroom floor. A half year later and it is mine.

Two things I need... A Scotts over-bar stabilizer, and someone to buy my '03 Dangerously Modified (tm) KDX220...

I have a Scotts over bar mount that I might be willing to sell. It's off an 07 EC250 but should fit your bike. Like new condition.

Cool.

PM sent...

Ooops. He only has the post (which I have), not the damper itself.

Congratulations Rick. Awesome to see that you finally bought a Gasser. After your test rides last year i thought you were leaning more to a 300, but that doesnt matter.

I hope you love it

Nice pick up!

Hey you look shorter than me! I don't recommend riding barefoot either! :D

Congrats! Now buy some gear. Is that a front trials tire? For off road your better off with a front knobby, the fronts are not radials like the rears.

Just a thought about the Scotts mount before you buy. Make sure about the handle bar position you like FIRST. I don't know if those bar clamps are adjustable fore/aft but many here seem to like the bars of the Gassers moved further forward for comfort. Make sure the Scott's will accomodate this if you like it this way or you will need a different mount.

Congrats on the new scoot:)

That looks really clean! Oh yea you guys don't see mud that often. I see it already has some LTR goodies on it, and those kick ass dirt star U rims that are tough as nails, perfect for the desert.

Congrats,

Roscoe

I've had my 06 EC 250 for about 5 months and friggin love it I've even been racing some MX on it and the thing hauls ass runs great starts first kick & some body always wants to know WTF it is. Your bike looks sweet. Have fun !

What type of triple clamp does it have? I have an 04 that has a complete Scotts set up, triple clamps, & stabilizer. If it would fit you're bike, maybe we can strike a deal, I would like to be able to move the bars forward a little.

That's my daughter on the bike. She's normally well-equipped on her PW80. She did tell me she has dibs on the Gasser "when I turn ten or something?"

After your test rides last year i thought you were leaning more to a 300,

I was, at the time. I do think that the 300 would serve my riding style (lack of skill) better (hill climbs, loafing), but every time I rode a 250 (be it GG, KTM, YZ, Husky, etc), I had more fun. So 250 vs 300 went 50/50, and then 60/40. Either one would have worked, in the end.

Those are Dunlop 803 tires front and rear (with four rides on 'em). Bought it that way. :) I had my doubts about trials tires but having put a frisky half-hour on them, I can say that they are really sticky. It doesn't rain here much so mud isn't a factor. Some have said that they aren't very good in sand, but neither am I. I sprinted down a curvy sand wash and they did fine for me.

That's a great deal on the damper.

With that mount your stuck with the bars in that rear position. Many seem to prefer the bars moved forward so they are directly over the fork centerline. Since you already have the mount I'd just get the damper for the smokin deal and see how it goes.

Skidad it is a 50/50 toss up on your statement. I can run my GPR with the bars in either location with no problems at all.

Rick good to see that you finally bought one. I was hoping you were going to get an 07 or 08 but hey that 05 is really clean and either way they are all really good bikes.

Congrat's and enjoy the wonderful bike that you have purchased!:D

Thanks, and will do.

I'm going for a training ride tomorrow to get acclimated. We have a little turn course near my house that while it doesn't rival north Houston for seemlessness, it'll do the trick.

Time to skim the GGRider forum for sag settings. I understand there was quite a debate here some time back about increasing the sag a few mm.

Later,

Rick
If all you need is the stabilizer then you would be better off buying the one for $240. I thought you needed everything & I was wanting to try a stock triple clamp so I could move my bars forward.
Good luck with the bike, she looks good!

Find out what the link arm costs before you buy that damper. In the end it might be cost effective to buy all as one from Scotts or a shop near you.You also need the pin.
