KYB cartridge into sachs fork?????

was just playing in the shed, and discovered that the threads at the top of a kyb cartridge bolts straight into a sachs tube... bottom bolt is different obviously, but would be a simple machine job... anyone ever done it... could be a good way to get a CC conversion on the sachs fork, poor mans OHLINS TTX :D

Yep been done. Think it was synergy seals did it. Apparently the simple machine of the bottom bolt is more then that and not worth the hassle according to him.
Bugger.

Top cap would be the easy part. Need to take into account total travel and bottoming resistance configuration. Also believe the threads in the body of the fork lug are larger than those on the KYB, so again not as easy as just machining out the fork lug.

kyb bottom fork leg into sachs top tube is looking good, still the got the front wheel problem but takes out the triple clamp issue....

Are the upper tubes the same length Tyson?

If so, it would make it pretty easy for someone to follow the same process I did for my KYB fitment using the older style forks.

yep everything is checking out. -so im using a sachs top tube with a 06 yzf bottom tube and the older style, slightly longer carts... the sachs is exactly the same overall length, but the whole bush and seal machinings are about 4mm further along, makinging the whole thing slightly longer than stock kyb top tube...
its all bolted together on a dry run and looks ok...
fixes the triple clamp problem for pre '10 kyb forks, but not the wheel issue...
