KYB SSS steering lock...

If you drill a hole in that thing you can use it to lock your bike and you can save a little weight :-)

I'm getting a bit worried about you.

Do you maybe ever fall off on purpose?

It's only 8mm thick :D (oo err)

Just waiting on fork guards now and she's good to test! Feels massively firmer than both sets of my marzocchis. I've checked the spring rates on a calculator and they are about .45 / .46. considering I've been running .46 on the off-road bike and .5 on the road bike, these feel mega firm!

I just paid the KTech man for club settings and never needed to touch it since a click or two.

I'll find out when I take it for a ride. Hopefully today. Moving house on the next 2 weeks hopefully so will have no time to get them apart if I need to.

The thing that gets me is that there seems to be very little sag. The springs are either .43 or .46, which are still softer than what I had in the marzocchis, but very little free and race sag with no preload spacers?? How do I adjust preload on these?

Took her out this morning for a quicky. So much better! A bit harsh on really small stuff, but otherwise so much better!!

I went through this high preload problem with my YZ SSS forks when the RaceTech springs were too long. I was told by several people in the suspension industry that I should not cut the stock spring perches more than 5mm (to reduce the preload) because that can apply lateral force on and potentially pinch the inner chamber fork tube which can dent or bend the tube causing restriction.

While I purchased the race perches that I was able to cut to lower the preload more than 5mm, it would have been easier to buy the correct KYB springs that come with the correct length for 5mm of preload. https://www.suspensiondirect.com/shop/sdetcv24-set I also needed to open up the windows to match the stock windows.

You can get parts from https://www.suspensiondirect.com/shop/ or http://www.technical-touch.com/
Based upon my spring length problem with RaceTech I will be avoiding them in the future.

Having ridden it a couple times now, I'm liking it more and more.

I'm still uncertain if I have standard front springs or not, and some guides say I should have 20/60 sag up front, and others say 30/80!!!

Either way, I'm liking it at the moment, and next month I think I shall buy a pair of 0.5N/mm springs, so I can put 1 in and try the middle ground out as well.

Riding wise. I've stiffened the whole bike up and everything feels smoother than ever!!!

Having ridden friends KTMs (300 exc, 350f exc, 350f xc, 525 exc) they always amazed me how they felt as though they floated, so mega plush. Then I rode a shitter 125 klx and the front end felt the same!!! Basically super soft like trials forks. Most of these bikes had been revalved for endurocross, either way in my eyes and for my riding they seemed WAY soft, but still better than my Shiver 45's (which I had revalved by a local expert, bought another set that had been revalved by a northern expert, and even made my own base valves, and still thought they were shit).

So yes, against the KTMs these forks feel a little bit harsh when travelling mega slow over roots and all the other undulations in the ground you expect after a half decent heat wave, but Christ! When I'm hitting things at full force, like a hill climb with roots poking out left right and centre, the bike just coasts up, no bouncing, no wallowing, no harsh wrist braking jolts. Just smooth!

So personally, besides playing with the springs a little, I will leave them for now, maybe I will want to look at valving after my next enduro, but I think that'll be a while off at the moment!

Embarrassing. I'll deflect the shame with a time honoured Internet distraction technique.

Look I think you need to be running Amsoil 2.9 weight fork oil mixed 200:1 with used dishwater or your crazy.

(grammar mistake intentional)

Did you know less 2 stroke produces 4 stroke?

I know it's true because my friend who is an uncle works with a guy who works for a supermarket that sells 3 stroke.

I am sure that was funny because I am still laughing but think it lost something in the translation from UK English to US English.:D

Righty! First day at the Motocross track on these boingers, and christ they're good!!!! I used to trail behind my mates getting beaten to hell by the bike. Today after the first half hour I was front of the lot and could do double the laps they were. And they're all on far younger KTMs than my 06 gasser! Normally I'd get home feeling destroyed and pissed off with the bike, but I barely feel tired and absolutely love it!

Will need to revalve the rear shock though, I'm 1 clicker off full firm and it feels so much better!

So uh.. anybody want to buy some second hand marzocchis? :D
