Press Release from Gas Gas as of this morning 7/20/2015?.

Dear customers, partners and friends,

We are contacting you with this update regarding the current situation with the company.

As you all know, in recent months the company has gone through several legal proceedings in order to renegotiate the debt and to continue operations. Unfortunately, despite the valiant efforts made to achieve this goal, it has been impossible to reach and finally they have declared to proceed with the liquidation of Gas Gas Motos SA.

In this process, the current management team, the receivers and the council representatives of all employees are working full-throttle to collect all of the necessary information to begin the process of selling the factory and to close the subsequent sale process with potential buyers in the fastest way possible.

The target set by the sale of the production unit is to be able to reactivate the Gas Gas Motos factory in a way that allows us to produce our motorcycles, both enduro and trial, and ensure a solid and sustainable long term viability of the company.

During this stage of the sale process of the production unit, we at Gas Gas will make our utmost efforts to ensure the level of service in the areas of spare parts as well as in the after-sales department in order to avoid penalizing our customers during this period.

From Gas Gas, we convey our sincere thanks for your support during these months and wish to convey our total conviction on the feasibility of satisfactory results during the production unit sale process.

Best regards,

GAS GAS MOTOS SA.

From our distributor here in USA and since it said dear customers also so I released it .

Where did that come from? Isn't SA South Africa? I'm not seeing anything online about that...

SA is a corporate identifier in parts of Europe, similar to Inc. or Ltd. in North America.

Should be interesting to see where things go from here. I guess the brand surviving is dependant on the purchaser. As others have speculated, if Sherco has the cash, and needs the production capacity, I could see them purchasing the factory and killing the brand. That would accomplish two goals in one fell swoop.

I'm not wishing for that, but wonder how many small, boutique brands the enduro market can support?

What do we do now?

Yeah pull wheelies, roost dirt & enjoy your bike. resale hasn't been particularly hurt, it was never that good. Spares won't disappear. The world will continue to turn. Burn hydrocarbons while you still can and your body is able.

I was thinking of storing the bike... Because I know it will be collectible item soon... Hehehe...

Darrling, everyone is past perfect restorations, we are all about 'Patina' now. And you'll only get that by dragging your bike backwards down a scrub bank & cartwheeling it into a river bed.

your mission, should . . . . etc.

+1 really over the speculation.

The more brands there are, the better it is for us, the consumer...this breeds competition and innovation. Unless you like orange.

Brilliant ... so many subtle references, and a brilliant generational quote that the young fellars will be absolutely clueless about ...

F5, you're the man ... now when can I visit ... I'm fascinated with all things NZ, ...

I'll do you a house swap holiday. Missus and I want to do Canada on road bike one day. Have to be when these darn kids move out of home though, and one of them is not even at school yet. Still I won't wish for life to go any faster.
