Marzocchi Shiver 45 fork springs

I have some springs here but I don't know the spring rate.

There are nice table in the Marzocchi manual.



But how can can I differentiate between 4 springs with the same lenght 460 mm and the same wirediameter von 4,8 mm.

may be someone know the numbers of coils

In my Shiver 45 is a spring with 4,8 mm wire and 470mm lenght and 30,5 coils.
Know someone which spring rate this is?

I have 100% for sure 4,0 springs and they got just same specs than your springs. Difference between 4,2 and 4,5 springs is number of the coils, but I can't remember how many coils they have (I didn't have 4,5 springs right now and 4,2 springs are in my forks)

4/4,4 and 4,2/4,6 spring rates in this table are interesting... I've been wondering that before. Both of the springs have own code. Maybe they are progressive springs? Anybody know...?

The outside diameter is appr. 40,5 for these springs

I have also some with 4,8 mm wire and 457mm lenght and 27 coils.
And suppose 4,5 N/mm.

And someone offers me 4,2 N/mm they have
4,8 mm wire and 462mm lenght and 29 coils.
or
4,8 mm wire and 470mm lenght and 30 coils.

Springs and shims

I just ordered some 4.5 springs yesterday from marzocchi USA in California. They cost $34 each which seemed pretty reasonable. They did not have the 4.2/4.6 versions in stock (and the sales guy did not know for sure what they are) and they did not have any complete shim kits either. They do not seem to be very focused on motorcycle business - the sales guy told me that they make their money from the mountain bike market and the support for dirt bikes is limited.

Can anyone tell me where to find shims? (in the US).

I have a case full of left over shims from doing some RT kits.
I used a dia grinder and a cone shaped stone bit to open the I.D. to fit.
I think you'll be fine with the .45...that's what I'm using.
Just for note I think Race Tech can match a .46 if you give them the spring dimentions.

just another note:
if your going to revalve read the post by pobit http://www.gasgasrider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=700&highlight=pobit it a real headstart and making the rebound stiffer really
help my forks. i also tried several different WT# fluids, settled on synthetic ATF set @ 120mm.
