maxxicross EN tire

Maxxis has this new enduro tire out and I have not heard any reviews on it yet. I saw one at the endurocross race in WA last fall and it sure looks like an interesting idea. Soft compound, similar "flat" surface area like a trials tire with a more knobby oriented pattern.

I might just pull the trigger and give it a try as I have not found any reviews anywhere.

Similar knob pattern to the FIM spec tyres that come on euro bikes, and what is used at the WEC and ISDE, the side knobs are chunkier though

The maxxcross EN looks exactly like my Michelin enduro comp III that came on my '10.

FIM height knobs, 140/80 size.

If you look under the Dualmaxx, the pic looks just like a Pirelli MT21...

It is an interesting design and now that you mention it, it does look very similar to the some of the euro tires.

I currently run Perelli MT43 trials tire and love it. Just want to try something that I can hit the local GP track with and still have the great traction I get with the trials tire. I also run the Nuetech, so I can run super low pressure.

What do others think of the Michelin enduro comp?

I don't think the MAXXIS radial has ever been released.
I've had excellent luck with the front and rear SI.

The Metzeler OEM front on my 2011 bike is short of amazing.

do you guys get any Mitas tires in the US, there have been great reviews about traction and longevity with them down here.

I used to use the Maxxis IT tires and they were not bad, decent traction to a point and then they went haywire, but they do last long. I believe the SI gave better traction but do not last as long

i use mitas/trelleborg and wont use any other rear tire because i find the tenmasters to be an absolutly amazing tire with respect to traction and longevity, i use the green stripe(four ply) 120/80/18. ive tried the michelins and am not as impressed with there life span and dont hook up as well. the trelleborg tenmasters is called the mitas sport extreme now if im not mistaken since the trelleborg name was eliminated

We can get Mitas here now from an online factory direct distributor. Good tires. The ET-01 radial trials is my primary (rock) tire. I will get an extreme sport to replace the MT16 I have, as the old Tenmasters were great. The C10 I believe is a good sand tire much like an S12.

i am IN LOVE with the metzler 6 day's extreme on the front of my new 300!! that is by far- the best frt tire i have ever ridden on in my long and not to illustrious career. i'm way faster into and out of corners as i have full confidence in how this tire will bite/grab/steer through the corners. there i said it- i'm in love with a tire!

the Metzeler 6Days Front Tyre is unbeliveble good, but the rear tyre is worn down very fast, the Michelin was much better.

What about the Maxxis riding report?

I will try next time the Michelin Enduro Comp 5 for the front

I have still been researching the Maxxis EN and really cannot find any reports good or bad yet. I would like to wait and see if I can get a good report before pulling the trigger.

Or, I might just go with the trusty MX31 or MT16

Been doing further research and decided to go with the Michelin s-12. Proven Northwest woods tire. I know they can go away somewhat quickly, but nothing but 100% positive reviews in terms of traction.

BTW, my brother just picked up the Metzler 6-days on the front and absolutely loves it.

Should be fun to run a knobby for a while after 3-4 seasons on a trials tire! With my Tubliss, I should be able to run low pressures with the S-12 and get some great traction.

That looks like it would work well in our forest here in Houston, lots of sand and silty mud with some of the darn red clay that is slippery as snot and really clogs up tires.
