Melted regulator/rectifier

So I have found the reason why my battery isn?t charging and my lights aren?t working. It turns out my regulator/rectifier is fried. The connection has actually melted. Does anyone know what could cause this? Would this be a stator issue, bad earth, water arcing out the connection? I just don?t want to fry the new one when I hook it up.

Looks like a poor connection at the module.
Use dielectric grease in the connector, when you install the new one.

Usually heat is from a resistance. If that resistance is low it will have to disapate great heat. Which is OK if it is designed to take it.

Bad connections are not designed to take the heat.
