NEDW needle - Where do i start?

SO how'd you go Timbre?? What did you end up with?

It got cold enough here and I started seeing snow in the mountains, so i started getting my snowmobile ready to go. I have not tried the NEDW needle yet. I have actually considered returning it and getting the NEDJ like you suggested. Probably wont ride much, if at all, until spring. I will be keeping the suggestions you have provided and use them in the spring for sure. If you come up with anything else in your testing that might be helpful, please pass it on either in this thread or send me a PM with the info. I would definitely appreciate it!

Thanks for your help!

Can't shed much light on the cold side of things :) My trail tech speedo was reporting 38C ambient temp out riding yesterday! I'm tried a few half clip adjustments but keep coming back to 40 NEDJ#2 172. Its only got a bit of a rich burble somewhere between 1/8 - 1/4 throttle most noticeable in 1st gear at constant throttle.

Is your bike a 2011 ec 300 with the 36mm carb? Where are you located?

I'm in Australia. Bike is a 2010 model but it had the PWK ASII (38mm). Its so hot and humid here at the moment nothing I can do is working. NED needles are at the point where it feels theres a rich transition on one of the tapers. I'm really happy with the J diameter and with the top end but right smack bang in the middle it carries on. Lifting the clip helps but even at the very top its better but still not great. I was very happy with these needles on the cooler days but this scorcher of a summer is smashing my settings. Last summer I ran N3CH#2 with a 38 and 175 so I might try my N3CJ with a 40 and a 175. It never ends.

My final testing brought me in with 40 NEDJ#2 172 on the 38mm carb but I run at 300-1000M in high humidity and mid 20 to mid 30C.

I just got my GG out for a ride today, Hood River OR, US same elevation, same humidity more or less, but the temperature today was +4C (40F).. Had 40 N1EF#2 175 AS set at 2.. was so bad.. rich all across the board, ran out of full tank of gas in just 19 miles of single track.. I want to try your set up.. what would you recommend for that temp?

Sorry, I ride 2011 EC300 Nambotin..

42 NEDJ#3 172

Its always a good idea to start in the middle clip and make changes as required. The bike will let you know what it wants.

At those temps that maybe a touch lean on the main, IMO. The the 42 pilot should be good, AS at 1.5, and the needle will more than likely wind up in the #3 or #4 clip, or maybe even an NECW needle in #3, but I would start off with a 175 main for those temps.

if your having trouble with the NEDJ, I could not get it to work for me here on my 250, it has a 36mm carb, temps are 40f-75f 50-300'

the N3EJ from yamaha YZ250's is MUCH better for me, Pilot jet #40, Main #180, 1 turn out on air screw

from the jetting posts I've seen on the forum, a 36 and a 38 end up with pretty different jets, however 250vs300 are similar jetting provided they are on the same diameter carb

Thank you!! I should get needles this week, will try both of them out and will let you know the results. it snowed here big, so, waiting for the weather to break to go test it out..
