I found an 08 ec300 demo with 5 hours at a good price. Can some one that knows the 08 give me the run down on what came on that bike for suspension and if it has the large or small lighting coil, any other diffs between 08/09 bikes.

If the bike has the smaller lighting coil the wiring will come out of the case at the 10 o'clock position and go up the frame in front of the engine. If the larger lighting coil is installed the wiring will exit at 2 o'clock and go up between the back of the engine and the carb. In 2007 when I bought my present bike some of the ec bikes had the larger coil and some had the smaller one when imported into the US.

My '08 300 (if the experts are correct) has the larger ignition, 45mm 'zokes, and the Sachs with the 16mm shaft for a shock. My son's '09 (EC250 Racing) has 48mm Sach's fork and the new 18mm shaft Sachs shock. They also relocated the ignition coil on the '09's, it's higher and better protected by the radiator shroud on the right side.

i have an 08 300 and the suspension i have is the best i have ever ridden. I am considering buying a set of extra forks so when i get a newer bike i can keep this same setup. newer bikes may possibly be better but i feel so comfortable on these forks im willing to risk it

Only big difference between the 08s and 09s is suspension. 08s came with 45mm Marzocchi forks, 09s have 48mm Sachs forks. 08s have either an Ohlins or Sachs shock, 09s have a Sachs shock. Both are good bikes, personally I prefer the Sachs suspension on the 09s over anything else. That said, if it's a good deal on the 08, go for it then send the suspension to Les at LTR for a revalve.
