Need help with 2008 GasGas EC300 - Suspension & Carb Settings

Hi everyone,
I'm looking for the best settings to get the most out of my 2008 GasGas EC300.

Suspension:
• Front: Black Marzocchi forks. They only have adjusters at the bottom.
• Rear: Stock shock. It has the 'screw within a screw' setup (large nut for high-speed, small screw for low-speed compression). There are no clicks, just turns.

What settings (turns out) do you recommend for making it easier to ride at hard enduro/woods hills.
Carburetor:
I'm currently running a 36mm PWK replica with a 50 Pilot and 175 Main. Air screw is at 1 turn out. Even with these jets, it feels lean at idle and I can't get a steady 'ting-ting' rhythm.
• What is your average fuel consumption with this setup?
• Should I switch to the original 38mm carb I have?, but i need to tune it
• mention that i dont have air leaks and whats weird is when i let the bike lay on a wall the rpm increases by a bit and after getting it back to correct position it lowers a bit
Cylinder Life:
I'm currently on a D size piston (last oversize). The cylinder has some aluminum transfer and scuffing from a previous owner.
• Has anyone run D size piston on these bikes?
• How many hours did you get out of it before needing a replate?
Im also running on sun map always. Feels way more alive
Thanks for any advice!"

On the forks, if Marzocchi, should be the Shiver 45's and they have adjustments top and bottom. Top is rebound and bottom is compression. To dial it in I always recommend the mid way point on the forks and dial in from there. Same on the shock except for the high speed adjustment on which I normally open all the way and adjust in as needed. You should feel clicks on every adjustment other than the high speed adjuster. Sounds like both ends need to be serviced. Of course, none of that matters if you don't have the correct springs for your weight. If you don't, take care of that first. It is that important.

On the carb, who knows with a Chinese carb as quality varies quite a bit. If you plan to continue using it make sure to only use genuine Keihin jets and needles in it. The numbers on the aftermarket ones don't correlate at all to the genuine parts. I personally would go with the genuine carb but that's me.

On the rpm increasing when leaned over, if the front end isn't being turned at all when it does this, your float level is off. If only when the front end turns, indicates the throttle cable routing/length is wrong.

Fuel consumption was always really bad on these bikes. I can't remember what it was when I had one with a PWK as it's been too long and I've only had a Lectron on my current model since I got it.

Never have run a D piston before and have never seen one needed in any of the bikes I've dealt with of any brand. I'm over 400 hours and I'm on a B size. Anyway, clean the transferred aluminum from the cylinder and have it professionally mic'ed. Then get the appropriate piston according to that measurement. That said, if a D size is actually needed, and plating is still there (not flaking, cracked, or worn through) you can lots of years of riding on it if you keep your air filter clean and make sure it is seated properly after cleaning.

400 on B size piston? That is just MAD!! Also alteady fixed the ting ting ting thing it was air leak 🤣 my bad sorry. And the suspension doesnt have settings up it only have big bolts i think that they are for changing the suspension oil i only have to the bottom of the suspension and its not on clicks. I wanna get the best out this suspension . The plating also still there not cracked or anything else and i got with a aluminium transfer there i have 175psi compresion at 50 hours on the piston . Also services my front suspension 50 hours before. And my rear suspension is surprisingly in a good condition no leaks on it:) bought a full fmf system for the bike new vforce reeds 3 new front clutch pump many things.

I would really love to see pics of the tops and bottom of these forks. It will help identify them so that we might be able to offer some more meaningful input. GasGas has always been a brand that had full adjustability on the forks for their enduro models. Makes me think someone might have done a swap.
