New 2011 EC200 Six Days Owner

Yes, but mine is an '07 with the old frame and with every accessory and then some bolted to it. Thats why I said "same vintage" when comparing the 250 and 200. I should have said "same configuration" too. Weighing methods/scales also differ. How would you explain 15 lbs difference between a brand new 2011 Six days 200 and 250 fresh from the crate? The bikes are the same with a different motor and different springs, check the parts list. Hate to argue but your not losing 15 lbs from that motor with the same cases going from 250 to 200 cc.

Hey, its all good anyway. Its a great bike and feels lighter then the 250/300. Good luck with it and enjoy.:)

Heres my 2cents:
Why did I choose a new 09EC200?
1st: The price Tag, its just that little difference that makes it easier to swallow from all the others(250/3002t) and even more from the Japs(F's), Italians and Austrians given the current Global Economy(and personal).
2nd: Its light, fun and easy, that the key attribute of this bike. The bike Labors for you and not the opposite. Yes 450MX power is awesome, but barley remember braking a sweat on this 200.
3rd: It keeps me sharp especially riding with 450, slight mistake and your left in the dust but every now and then I like making them sweat to pull away from "that F***** mosquito" behind them;)
4th: The GG brand seems to be growing to a broader after market parts to choose from, especially on both sides of the Atlantic.
and 5th: Its good old XX century proven technology(other day mate was bitching about a faulty efuel pump that Huscvarna gives no warranty and asked him 1K for a new one, hummm??? I never heard of a broken carburetor!!!)
and as for the 200/250/300 discursion:..
If you are a racer(even if occasional)? then choose the class your probably have better ods of success and not the bike displacement( but yes 250 to 300 is a quickie upgrade/downgrade), but remember a good rider is fast on any bike( R.I.P. Mika Ahola).
If you are a enthusiast and race occasionally then choose from style, abilities AND BODY BUILD(39Hp of the 200 is Good Enough for my 11 stone/5.5ft)
In thee 2 years of 200 I can only 2 reasons for buying a bigger displacement:
It does fall into the small bore 2t, so you do have to rev it more(and in the right gear(some times dubledown/triple shift+ clutch (lol))) to get the job done thus an early piston/clutch wear compared to the 250/300( mine is staring to feel weaker in the low rpm but feels as strong in the hi rpm)
ENGINE PARTS: I found that MOST piston manufacturers list 250/300 GG kit's but not all list 200 kit's and sell them more expensive then a 250 ???:(
so that makes me wonder, is 250cc the mother of all displacements, history says so and so does what you can do with it, tame it down or boost it with just top end it to 300 for as less 450$ kit's that I've seen for sale.

Great ride report and everytime I read one like this it makes me want to get the 200. Right now I leaning twords the 250.

Did you happen to do the Shelton Enduro this weekend? Just curious. I saw a couple of Gassers there and we parked next to a guy with an '11 Six Days.

My brother and I rode the short course (60 miles) on Sunday.

I think a 200 would have been perfect for the extremely tight singletrack conditions.

Thanks TEricksen. Thats the kind of feed back I was looking for. I may still end up getting a 2012 GG 200 even with having my Husky 165. I have a 30" inseam myself and although the 12 GG's are a little taller my Husky is the tallest bike I've ever thrown my 53 year old leg over. Thanks.

Yes, you did read correctly. A friend of mine has a son who has been racing around the country on 200cc 2-strokes for quite a few years, and he is running the same carb as on my bike. He gave me the jetting specs that his son prefered.

Elevation- 100' - 1,000'
Motul 800 @ 40:1
Pilot- 42
Main- 172
Needle- R1470D KTM w/clip on center
Fuel screw- 2 turns out

With the warmer weather we had this past weekend, the bike was a tad rich from my initial set up, but it was not enough for me to make an air screw adjustment. I might lean it out a half turn or so on my next ride this week.

What bike is that ktm needle from? Wonder how it compares with the NOZI needle.
I wonder if its quite a rich needle, only because on my 200 im running a 50 pilot and a 180 main, matched to some funky needle, NBHW.

this is an excellent post on the 200 :)
i just got myself an older but very good condition 2001 ec 200 and i love it.
i have an older ec 300 aswell that is a bit worn suspension-wise and completely bad settings, but i love the usable power on de 200 as for the 300 was to much for me.
it doesn't feel that crisp off idle but will look into that, PJ smaller? needle adjustment?
it fits me so much better, should have gotten one sooner :-)
the 300 will crawl up anywhere without thinking, just by looking at it as with the 200 i will have to shift back 1 or 2 gears but it will pull it off too.
i'm stoked on that "litlle" engine that i was told to be bullit proof...right?
suspension is all stock, just got busy setting and testing it up, and got it allright for now. i don't have any reference to what is "good" but i guess we'll find out in time.
can't wait to go riding again!!

cheers, Hannes.
