New Gasser in the shed!

Hi folks,
Just added a 2012 EC 250 to my collection, love it! Engine pulls like a train, feels light, just need to get my head around the suspension...

As usual I'm going to need some help:
Had the throttle stick open a couple of times already and found the needle heavily scored/scratched... Real scary as I was halfway over some big tyres on one occasion. I swapped out the N1EF and put in a NOZI recommended by my local GG dealer, made the bike wilder and real grunt of the bottom end, almost feels like my 450 Berg. No idea what it does on fuel yet...

Another thing I can't seem to find is info on springs rates. The bike is stock and running the Sachs shock/forks. When playing on logs, wheelies, etc at slow speeds it feels great, but if I hit the logs at any speed over jogging pace it just kicks up the back end big time. I'm100kg or 220lbs with all the gear on + tool belt and probably need to swap the springs but I really don't know where to start.

Any one else my weight? What setup are you running?

Cheers

You need a longer throttle cable. The OEM ones are too short. You can get a longer one from Go Fasters. Drew Smith at WER valved my forks and shock without a spring change but I was right on the line at 190 pounds. The valving change made a HUGE difference. Give a WER a call to determine the correct spring rates.

Congrats

That bike's proper dirty...lol.

You'll find a ton of info in both the Suspension and Intake/Carburetion sub-forums; lots of great people on here with loads of information.

NOZI needle is the same taper profile as the N1EF, but half a clip leaner.

The I is the same diameter as W needles (N3CW/NEDW/etc) which works well in the 250s. Better jetting out there if you do some searching.

Are you sure they are 48mm Sachs forks and not 45mm Zokes?

I thought 2012 was the the first year of the CC Marzocchi's ?

And pretty sure they were also sold in conjunction with the Ohlins 888 (or at least they were in Australia). In 2013 we received race models with 48mm CC/Ohlins 888, and an e start with Sachs shock and 45mm Zokes.

I'll take a punt and say parsons is somewhere in the UK, and that there bikes probably came with a Sachs/Sachs combo.

Your right on the money there, it is a UK bike!

Forgive me for being a retard but I have searched for jetting info on the 2012 250 and can't find squat... there seems to be reams of posts for the 300 but nothing on the 250.

Jakobi, can you explain a bit more about the (N3CW/NEDW/etc) and point me in the right direction?

Avg temp is 20 deg Celsius, 400-1200m above sea level. I'm looking for smooth yet progressive power, not something that hops right onto the pipe and rips my arms out.

Cheers
