new to me Rieju Ranger 300- What oil to use for premix and gearbox?

I recently purchased a new to me Reiju Ranger 300. Would like to run synthetic oils for premix and gearbox. A cycle shop near me carries many brands. I was thinking 50:1 for premix and synthetic for gearbox. I know that everyone has their favorites. I live in the U.S. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks

I like running 40:1 as I live in the desert Southwest so the extra protection is worth it to me with our heat. I use Lucas semi-synthetic and it has proven really good oil after inspecting many top ends on my Gasser and my buddy's YZ250X after running it. It's also widely available at auto parts stores.

On the gear box I like just ordinary ATF Type F auto transmission fluid. Proven to work great, makes finding neutral easier (ie; less clutch drag) when the engine is running, and it's cheap and available almost anywhere. Synthetics are nice but definitely not necessary and not worth the expense IMO. Just make sure whatever you use that it is meant for wet clutch applications.

Good luck and enjoy the ride!

I use golden spectro synthetic/petroleum blend at 40 to 1 and it doesn’t have to much pipe druel out of the pipe . As far as gearbox oil each bike and every rider should try different ones I use maximum’s and or transmission oil .

For premix use as stated in manual, usually 2% or 1:50. More oil is not more safety. More oil means leaner air/fuel mixture which is less safety, so you have to increase jets. Not worth the fuss unless you are riding full on mx tracks. Any synthetic oil designed for trail will do, meaning it has low flash point. If it dyes fuel in certain colour, generally blue, green or red even better so you know you have a premix.

Gearbox general use ATF is ok, but it becomes grabby when fine dosing the clutch in tough terrain. Better choice is any engine or gear oil 10W 40, with JASO MA2 standard. It can be gearbox specific oil or general 4 stroke oil.
MA2 is wet clutch approved. Avoid synthetics. Semisynt or even mineral is far better. But mineral is hard to find nowadays. Replace 10-15hrs, depending on use.

Exact oils are what are available to you locally. Pricier does not mean better.

To be fair, they are hopelessly rich standard so choose the ratio you want to run and then jet it close but safe.

When we were roadracing, more oil meant less wear and more power throughbetter sealing. But I wouldn't bother going more than 40:1 on a dirtbike as you have low revs and not flat out for long.
