Ohlins 888 cracked lower mount

Jake,

You dropped coin on TTX fork inserts and went 160 hrs without a shock service? Send that thing in for a full go through, you probably need more than the clevis. My oil was hammered at approx 60 hrs, and thats a lot. Sachs yes but its basically the same steel body design as the Ohlins.

Ok, I think that I can help you with this problem. After a complete WER revalve on my EC 300 2011 I got overly zealous during reassembly and overtorqued that part stripping the threads. Drew Smith from WER had to get the part from Ohlins in Sweden. It took about three weeks to get the part. I think the part was around $40 to $60 US Dollars and Drew installed it for me. Drew said that the install is easy and didn't require a complete teardown of the shock. Drew has the part number information. His contact info is below.

Yes Glenn,

I'm a naughty naughty boy.. I'm going to go with Simmos recommendation and see what Mr Hay can do for me.. The wait on the part will probably be the hardest thing.. Or I might drop coin and get a TTX shock as well and then have a spare for when its off for servicing. We'll see how everything pans out.

Well well I got my hands on some of the Ohlins spec cards for the TTX models GG1182 (2002-2011) and GG1282 (2012). Seems to be some significant changes in the shock including over all length, so don't think the new one will cross back. Going to check availaibility on the GG1182 and if its ready to roll I will probably just bite the bulllet, and then have the Ohlins 888 serviced and repaired, and use it as a spare for when the TTX is being serviced. I promise I won't wait another 150+hrs :o

Isn't the service interval on the TTX stuff fairly short?

Yeah the fork inserts had the service intervals on the manual. Can't remember the exact number at the moment but it wouldn't be more than 30hrs between oil changes.

Not sure what the shock calls for.

My dealer dropped a set of TTX in his zoke 48's. I am going to try and get a ride on it and compare to my 48's. The stock 48's on the 12's are pretty nice.

I bit the bullet. I had already spent for a set of TTX Inserts which I was going to run with the Ohlins 888 rear. I have just had a quick ride with them and they both feel pretty good. I have also dropped and bought the TTX shock to suit 2010/2011 so I'll have the full kit and kaboodle. Twowheels is getting me the replacement clevis and I will have the 888 repaired and keep it as my spare shock for when the TTX is being serviced. Dustin at Skeeters Motorsports hooked me up with the Shock for an alright price. Postage was a bit exy but thats expected. He only has 3 shocks left so if anyone is after one give him a buzz. They had bought the last 5 from Ohlins USA and Ohlins SE advises that the shocks are no longer in production for the 2010/2011 models. The 2012 has some subtantial changes to size and fitment.
