Painting Shock Springs?

Has anyone had any luck with painting a shock spring?

Got set up with a new one (thanks, Les!), it's black and I liked the "stock look" of the yellow color on the old spring.

I'm wondering if paint will "stick" to a spring that is moving around a lot??

I tried it before, sanded the spring well, primed it after a few rides it started peeling off.I guess the paint is hard and doesnt flex,I would powder coat them.

Very helpful, thanks for saving me some time spent messing around, guys.

I think black will be the new cool look!

Maybe try some automotive bumper paint that is intended to stay flexible.

I paint springs on vintage binges with great success. The flex agent hasn't been necessary if using a real automotive paint. Rattle can won't do it. It does wear faster than powder coat though.

I've painted springs black with appliance enamel. I doubt you will find that in yellow though. Maybe harvest gold Lol!
