Physical Size of 200 vs 250

So I want to pick up a 200 for my 15 year old. Looking for early 2000's. He is shorter and doesn't hardly fit on our 250's. Is the 200 the same height? Our KDX buddy bike is perfect right now for him. I also can get a (cough) 2001 KTM200 thats been lowered from another friend who is short. But I'd rather stick with GG

You can get longer dogarms, drop the forks through and double sole his boots. Plus run slack on the preloaded.

The proper way is to send suspension to a tuner and they can fit spacers to reduce travel, but the above might be enough to cope.

My '01 XC200 is every bit a full sized bike, seat height comparable to my '06 EXC 450. It's about 50 lbs lighter but feels like it's a 100 lbs lighter.

Thanks. I can lower forks internally. I did a set for my buddy's girlfriend when we did a fork swap on her crf230. What happening is your reducing the travel.

In fact the KTM 200 that my buddy has, we're pretty sure its been lowered. He's never been into the forks. He's pretty short and he'd give us a good deal, but I'm not sure the Spaniards wouldn't gang up on the Austrian in the garage when we're not around. The KDX he is riding is actually a very good size for him. Next couple of months is when I'll get a bike for him.

The other problem is we're fairly tall. I'm 6', my other son is 6'1". So this one will outgrow a smaller bike physically quickly. As far as power I want him on a 200 for several years. So I don't want to get one thats small, then get another. I'll have him swing a leg over mine today then make a judgement call. But I'm leaning towards lowering links and lowered (reduced travel) forks.
