Poor headlight

Hi after a bit of advice or confirm my suspicions
The bike gasser 300ec 2001 higher output generator....
The problem is poor front light?
If I take a voltage = 12v when lights off, lights on and working = about 6v
Am I right in saying new regulator required?.
can it be upgraded ?
I have a ktm part from a 300ecxe 4 wire, would this upgrade/fit??

are you running the stock tail light? if so it will draw a ton of power from the front light..and most go to an LED tail light setup as there is less draw on the headlight..if no tail light i would try the regulator..

If the light is on and you still show 6V available- check for poor connections and that your ground(earth) is secure. You shouldn't have voltage 'left over' on a loaded circuit, the light should be using all of the 12 V

output is AC not DC. recheck and post.

Just had look through some other threads and see a high output wire from the generator! The white one..... Could this solve my problem ?? I am running a slightly upgraded front light with LED rear
