Pwk 36

What it going on Bill? I'm also entertainining the idea of installing one one my 200 project. I've done one on a ec250 but the throttle response was way to much for tight woods.

Actually that's what I want. I ride an EC300 on extremely technical trails and I want to get the fastest throttle response possible at low speeds. The 300 is a touch sluggish if you make a turn and suddenly presented with a log that needs hopping. It's a little worse with the 2K3 ignition I have but the extra weight is nice to help prevent stalling in the nasty sections.

All the KTM 2 strokes use a 36 and it makes a difference. I don't really care that much about top end power loss.

I guess I'm too used to my Montesa trials bike.

You may save money by having your current carb modified by RB-Designs. It would pay to give him a call and tell him what you're considering. He might just have the solution for you.

If you dismiss the conventional wisdom you read about gasser jetting and jet clean that thing will bark like a supercross bike, be carefull though it can squirt right from underneath you just like that! been there done that , tore the left footpeg right off the frame

I just wanted to play around a bit. I kind of miss the instant response of my trials bike or the KTM 200 I had. Of course a bigger bore machine is going to be a tad bit more sluggish in this regard no matter what but I figured the intake velocity would be a little higher with the small bore carb leading to quicker throttle response at low RPMs.

Bill .You can also use a short bodied Mikuni tmx if you want a bit more hit but you might have problems with the air box end of of things being to short. There is also the Mikuni vm 36 round slide. These carbs have a long body and are very plentifull used. These came stock on a alot of sleds, the only downside being that the slide is brass and throttle pull is very slightly heavier, a somewhat dated but overall a very good carb.

I hear a lot of complaints about tuning the TMX. I really didn't want to mess around with the short body TMX or PWK because of the air box. I've seen some conversions using the short body where they put a spacer between the reed valve and the case. I did this on a KTM 200 and it helped increase bottom end torque. KTM did this from 07 on from the factory. I don't think I want to do this on the 300 since it really isn't torque I want to change, just response time.

This was just something I wanted to play with just to see what would happen.
