Rekluse removal, starting to consider it.

Rekluse removal question, its nice when your beat tired or jumping back on the bike after a long break(happens to me alot). I demo a 13 300 and it has the flip of the clutch zip that my 11 300 wont do with the rekluse in it. My bike has so much torque its not always an issue but there are time i really want the ability to slip the clutch and come out of a turn or climb a big hill with little run. How many of you guys have removed your rekluse? Opinion on positive and negatives? I know its been talked about some but im seriously thinking about doing it before this weekends race. These bikes are hard to stall anyways ive been told. Ive never rode mine w/o the rekluse. Thanks

I never installed one in the first place for those reasons. The stock GG clutch is awesome. We were riding some slick side mountain stuff this weekend, lots of uphill starts and log hops over trees, some bypass trails in trials like sections. My buddy's '12 250 did not even have a flywheel weight on the 2k-2. Torquey JD Jetting, 51t rear and G2 throttle and it was awesome.

This post is making me laugh.... Because I too was considering the exact same thing. I recently spent $100 and installed the adjustable Rekluse slave cylinder. I spent more time tooling on the damn thing last ride then I did riding. I was pissed. And even worse the Rekluse pressure plate got into my Rekluse cover and added a some AL fines to my oil......That totally pissed me off.....

Don't get me wrong - it is a great product and all. But when I ride I want to ride not fart around with tools and stop my clutch from slipping.

Like you said I want the bike to respond when I ask for it.

As of last night Rekluse and adjustable slave cyl are removed and my OEM Clutch components along with a new set of friction discs are back in the bike.

I look forward to getting back on trails and hitting it hard.

I rode a katoom with a recluse the other week. I see their benefits, but totally not for me.

Do you use the OEM clutch components?
I see that S3 offers a billet basket that would definitely allow more oil to move around the friction discs. I know you are a fan of S3 & you could be our tester....

My 2010 has 260hrs on the stock basket, plates and fibers. Certain oils and punishment have been known to make it squawk on occassion, and its always had a little drag but never enough to cause issues. Starts in gear easily. I'll be checking it all out these days off when I split the cases. If I find the basket fingers grooved out heaps I might consider the S3.

Most all my buddies have had Rekluse for years and swear by them. (one is a 4x ISDE rider)
I have tried them but not sold. I rarely stall. I always have 2 fingers on the clutch lever. I use the clutch a lot and I don't get arm pump on the clutch side. I get it on the throttle side.

I've read these threads so many times and feel the same way, I had an xp and didn't really care for it so I took it out. Never felt the need for it as I don't stall much either and just didn't like the feel of it(and yes it was set up right;) )

I knew i wasnt the only one. I love the clutch by all means but i just dont think this bike needs it or will benefit as much as id hoped. My rmz450s i raced enduros on had z-starts in them, it was a must have for that bike and made me unstoppable when i started using it. Watch the vid of me from the rattlesnake enduro in PA last year in the vid section, u can tell i cant really use my clutch much

If I was forced to ride a 4 stroke then I'd want one to avoid the flame out issue, but thats it.

Does the 300 bump start pretty easy??

The 300 bumps and kicks so easily its a joke. I actually found the 300 started just as easy as the 250 does too. With both top ends I've just had to sneeze at the kicker and the bike coughs to life.

I'm alot like Brian. Find most of my fatigue occurs in my throttle hand over my clutch and I'm always fingers on it slipping away to bring it into song or modulating power to the rear.

Does yours freewheel if you lock the rear?

I have all 3 of mine setup so they will tug at idle, and will not freewheel even if I lock the rear and never touch the gas, they grab enough so they are engaged again as soon as the wheel moves. I can not leave it in gear or it'll push itself off the kickstand. Comes on quick but smooth so the auto part of the clutch is only at low rpm, I have to feather the clutch if I'm too low an rpm coming out of a corner.

By setting mine up this way they are basically a manual clutch that does not stall, and I can ride a gear high it'll slip but to be fast I have to help it slip, no different from without the rekluse for that.

I had a problem with mine the other week where it stuck for several hours whilebon a trail ride , and i actually liked the way it hooked up , i kept stalling it though:rolleyes: .
I put some new friction plates in and returned it to stock for now , im not sure which way to go for now .

Wait a minute, this thread makes no sense to me: Where is your clutch lever? It still works with the rekluse installed.
Fan the clutch any time you want. If its a Core EXP it will feel and work EXACTLY like the stock clutch.

I have installed many of them in all types of bike. From 150s to 520s and all in between. Some with clutches levers and some with LHRB lever. 90% love the setup. I know IMO they work and yes I know what to do with the clutch. If you don't like the send them back if under 30 dAys. As of this time neither of my bike has one. But I am thinking about it.

Raced MX, Hare Scrambles and Enduro all my life. I too know exactly how to use a clutch. Held out forever on this issue. Rekluse Core EXP on my 300 with the outboard adjuster in the slave. What the heck was I thinking. I spend money and time researching what handle bars, what guards, what suspension mods, settings, etc. This thing makes it 30 - 50% easier to climb snotty rooted hills, ditches, ruts and tight trails. If set up right your speed will increase and you will be smoother and less fatigued. I now simply don't agree with the "old school" thinking of needing to manually modulate the clutch exclusively. You can still do that with the Rekluse. To do without one makes as much sense to me as using conventional forks with twin shocks. The technology is there and it works. Set it up correctly and enjoy the ride.
