doing the shane watts class next weekend... actually here locally about 30 miles from my house.. one of the "local" gg dealers , i was told, offered him a gg to do the class on, but since that dealer is 120 miles away, they went to a local dealers bikes... probably be a pumpkin... we also had an offer to put him on a 750 shadow (one of my buds) but i think he passed on that bike also..

cannot wait.. probably half of the class is my riding filled with our group of riders.. gonna be a great weekend..

watts school is awesome - all of the skills he teaches so obviously translate into the woods. the grinding exercise he teaches REALLY improves your greasy off camber skills. his rutted cornering technique is also amazing - significantly improved my body position, and i don't blow through berms anymore... the techniques he teaches really stick with you, and no matter your skill level, you WILL be faster after the class. you'll have a great time. i would even consider going again, if he had a school nearby this year...

that is exactly what i am looking for.. i am not fast at all, but can usually keep up.. i have just gotten to a point where i am not getting any faster and my corners and berms are horrible... i have had zero time on the 08 and am still working out the bugs on it.. probably will just ride the old 01, it fits like my work gloves..

Class is really great and you WILL be a tired puppy each day after not even getting out of 3rd gear for the entire day.

Would love to see Watt's on the GG and to get his impressions. He makes everything look so easy. A beautiful thing to watch.

definitely bring the bike you are most comfortable on.

you won't believe how much faster you can hit corners. his techniques work. make sure your bike is in tip top shape, you will be riding 75+% of the time.

Just did his one over here in AUS this weekend. Was awesome and learnt sooo much.
Really need to practice it all to make it worthwhile.
We did 90 odd Klms for the 2 days and i was sore in alot of muscles ive never been before and i ride every weekend. It shows you that he really pushes for going past your comfort zone. Was really good. Well worth the dollars.

He gave me a bit of humor about riding a GG but was all in good fun. I was the only one.

And he was riding a KX not a pumkin.

I have done two, second to get away for a weekend :) Never got the grinding the post down, but seem to do ok in the wild. pick up something new each time, the first was a mud-fest, 2nd dusty as heck but very different terrain.

Pretty sure Shane is a pumpkin-only kind of guy.

as far as i know, mine will be the only gg there.. so i will get ready..

the 01 is ready, new tires, brakes, fresh maint, so . i will probably take the 08 just in case.. i think shane told the guy who is setting it up, he really did not care what he was on, so it will be interesting to see ..

we are bad dry here in the texas panhandle.. 0.55 inches of rain this year. the sand is brutal powder sugar sand.. the guy who's place it is, I also know.. he said it is alot of sand... May have a small chance of rain early this week, that would be a real plus..

I took his class in Michigan City, IN, last year.

The guy who hosted it had an old Bultaco Alpina 175. Right side shift, left brake. The host bet dinner that he could beat Shane through the woods; the host on his 300 exc, and Shane on the Alpina. Shane did a couple of rides around the field, then said, "OK."

The host beat him, but not by much. Shane was riding a bike at least 38 years old than the host's bike, and lost by a few bike lengths.

It was hilarious.

Even with a broken wrist, the school was awesome. My daughters and I are taking it this fall in Minnesota Well worth the money.

Have fun in class.

Jhender,
don't make the mistake that I did in our dust... was having issues on the KTM with carb dumping fuel, was pulling it apart every weekend to clean it and try and sort out why. must have gotten a kink in the boot seal or air filter one time, did really bad things to my cylinder!!

gotcha... i think the 01 will be my ride.. they are not that much different, but i am still getting suspension dialed and little things ironed out.. the 01 is a great ride.. our dust is bad this year.. pretty much every ride gets an air filter clean..

it will probably be the oldest bike there...
