read thru this thread.... there is a guy who made a bracket and put a pmb on one... might be an option also...

Yea thats not the problem its the lower frame tab that brakes off were the bottom roller mounts to I just made a peace that bolts to the side stand bolt and goes to the sub frame for support shortened the low roller and bolt to make getting to it better also this is mostly a fix to help from braking that tab
off looks like it might work time will tell
But still looking for a better Idea
thanks

I broke my lower roller/ kickstand tab(welded to frame) the first day I rode the bike:(. I welded it twice at the failure point just past the gussets and it subsequently broke twice right next to my welds.

I now just ride with no lower roller or kickstand. Incredibly poor design with what I think is a cast(?) tab, which is what makes welding it ineffective at the thin failure point by the bolt hole. If the bike did not have other redeeming:D qualities, I would have sold it the same week I bought it. I hope the rest of the frame, welds and "tabs" hold up better....

Mine broke as well. Got a new bracket and was able to remount despite the roller bracket being busted. Sounds like it might not last

Was thinking about having the roller bracket rewelded-thanks for the info! Guess I wont as it sounds like it is a waste of time/money.

They must have changed the stand bracket on the newer models, both of my 07's have been well used and the stands have never given any issues, maybe try finding a stand bracket from an older model and mounting that?

I think one of the reasons the bracket breaks is a roller bolt not properly torqued in combination with letting the sidestand swing up without holding it. This puts an enormous stress on bracket.
I made a new piece of bracket out of 3 mm steel(a bit thicker than original bracket), and grinded out the center flat part of old one, leaving the flanges to weld it to. I have also removed the large diameter return spring. It has held up for a few months now.

Check your roller bolt torque.

I have no photos, but i made a "drawing" ;)

I figured I was not alone on this one. I too have a broken chain roller tab. I have something super cheesy using wire to hold the roller mounting bolt in place. I need a real fix. Right now I can gently use the stand. I prefer to wail on the stand. If anyone has some solid fix it ideas or products, sign me up.

bad design

I doubt mine broke from using the kick stand or improper fastener torque. When I ride over large rocks the 1.5" wide roller secured with a tab on one side gets ripped out. The bolt was still torqued along with broken piece sandwiched between. The rubber "roller" has dents in it, maybe from the chain:rolleyes:.

Anyhow, the repair tab pictured is what I was going to do to make the kickstand functional. The one sided roller mount is just a bad idea and will break with me riding our rocky trails on a regular basis(three times already, I mean "strikes"). Then there is the other issue of the kick stand rubbing on the swingarm.....awe f*** it, just turn the fuel off and throw 'er up against a tree or on the ground.....works for me:D

I went riding today and the same thing happened to me! Looks like the tab is just too thin of a piece of metal with not enough material around the bolt hole. I do alot of fab at work so I'm going to come up with a permanent fix this week. My Gas Gas is still the best bike I have ever owned but this is an annoying problem.

My tab is broken as well. I have to figure out a fix before I head to Ohio for the National Enduro this weekend. I dont care about the kickstand but the mount for the chain roller is a pizz off.

Scott broke his bracket because he was riding his bike when he was drunk and he tried to kickstart it with the bike on the sidestand. :D

Busted! :D You know me too well.

I got mine fixed today. Took it to the local hot rod shop and they welded a new tab on for me in about 15 mins. Cost me 3 Tim Hortons coffees.

I do think that a lot of the problem is coming from fat guys (like Clay) trying to start their bikes on the side stands. It wasnt a few years ago that KTMs were breaking side stand bolts left and right from the same thing.

Dualsportutah texted me a pic of his side stand fix and asked if I could post it up for everyone's viewing pleasure.
