Silencer Effects

I know that changing the header pipe on a 2t can have big effects on power delivery of the bike depending on the shape of the pipe, are there any noticable benefits in changing the silencer portion?

I have the stock banana silencer and while I think it is ugly I cannot justify replacing it for purely cosmetic reasons. Are there silencers that deliver more bottom end power?

the effect by changing the silencer is not as big as changing the pipe.
I have a Messico pipe and the FMF Turbinecore on my 144! Whn I change to the HGS comlpete system it is a big difference, but changing only the silencer, I feel not much or nothing. I noticed the same at my old 300. Changing from the original one to the racing version and to the Q-Stealt was not a big difference. The must important effect is that all silencers are shorter and smaller than the original one and will not get damaged as quick when falling.

If it looks heaps better you'll ride heaps better too! Who cares what it does to the power :)

You could pick up a 2nd hand one cheap enough Matt. For 'testing' purposes. That way its not purely cosmetic. Haha!

If you haven't fitted a large volume power valve cover, then this could give you more bottom end. Seemed to make the bottom end quite a bit crisper on mine.

I like it ... for the good of mankind!!

A shorter silencer equals a bit more pop off the bottom. A longer silencer will pull longer on top. I shortened the body of the silencer on my 125 (cut it down to only mount with one bolt) and I noticed a bit more power right off the bottom. It is a bit louder but it still passes AMA off road sound tests.

my R model came with two mufflers, a standard one and a tiny little race one...
I havent had the chance to experiment much though...
