Small bulb in headlight assembly?

I dug through several threads and couldn't find anything on this (nothing in the microfiche either).

Does anyone know the spec bulb to use when replacing the small bulb in the '11 headlight assembly? Mine seems to have gone missing - didn't notice it until I was out on a night-ride and the wire snapped to the main bulb connection. Let me tell you, riding at night without any light at all adds a bit of adventure to the trail...lol.

Thanks for any help - want to get it ordered today.

I've got : nu-lite
GM
V5W 12v
F4 2VD

This is just as it appears on the bulb, Hope it helps.

BTW, what is the purpose of the little bulb? I don't think I even hooked mine up on my transformation. When is it suppose to be on?

Is it on by it's self? Or with the low or high beam?

It's separate from the main headlight circuit, means when your on the road if you don't want the main headlight on then you can still have a light glowing....;)

You might not get the same switch block as us but we have a switch that allows us to turn on the sidelight before the main light.

That's funny, I just assumed mine popped out at some point and only discovered it when I was repairing the plug connection to the main bulb. I know there's one in my wife's 200, but I honestly don't know if it illuminates when the headlight is turned on. And in saying that, I don't know if mine was actually working or not :o:o

The way it was wired confused me - could be that the wires aren't actually powered.

If I can get the bulb at any auto parts store, it'll be an easy test (as would pulling the bulb from my wife's bike...lol).
