Spacer for YZ kick starter?

I already have a YZ lever on my 2012. However, there is some play after tightening the screw all the way on the shaft. The yz lever needs to be a little wider. What is used as a spacer to put on the backside? Or does one of the 250/450F years fit better?

I also read that the 2013 kick lever is improved. How much improved? Should I get that over a new Yamaha one?

It was unfolding on me every time I hit the throttle. I cleaned it and packed with grease, but it is still very loose. Need to do something to solve this.

A flat washer on the retaining bolt side will work.
The washer has to fit over the splined shaft. An automotive oil plug gasket may work.

The washer won't get crushed/deformed once you tighten it? It is tapered back there huh?

o ring

I used an o ring to take up the slack between the bolt and the kicker, did this on my bike that had chewed up splines Since there is no real movement o ring should last a long time

I think I may have misunderstood you. You put it on in order of, lever, flat washer, stock washer/bolt?

Yes. Or the o-ring Stoby mentioned.
The idea is to have the kick lever knuckle bottom out on the splined shaft.

I had an O ring that fit. Snugged it up pretty good. I hope it last.

I still need a new lever though. It is still floppy at just the lever part.

Thanks for the assistance.

O-ring huh. Dam. I went to the trouble of making a cupped steel washer on my brothers lathe. The o-ring sounds much easier.

Take it apart remove the ball and spring, stretch the spring out a bit and put it back together. Mine was doing the same thing;);)

Ok, I will try that on the spring that is in there.

I ordered a new spring, ball, and O ring on Monday. It was like $5.
