i just fitted a slip on silencer to my EC 250 and it came with a spark arrestor but i didnt fit it. is there any reason to fit it other than it stops bits going out the end of the pipe. any performance gains or losses?

ps.
i did a quick search didnt find what i was looking for.

:)

thanks

In the US they are required to ride in USFS land (BLM) and in just about every OHV area; fire protection. Only go without at a private MX track; those bikes are set up to hit the power different so a slightly shorter silencer can give slightly more top end/over rev. Try to get the sparky to work, it's the best thing to do. Maybe call the supplier and find out why it doesn't fit?

ok. i fits fine but didnt put it in becuse it was not in when i fitted the pipe. ill leave it in my bag and if i get pulled up ill fit it. only a small allen key to fit it..

Actually a shorter silencer gives more bottom end power. That's why factory 125s always ran short silencers in supercross and a long silencer in outdoor MX.
