Those Finnish fellows (on the European forum) have some great looking words - I have no idea what they mean but those guys would probably not know the meaning of some of these east Tennessee words either - you'ins didgahear youseto revanuers chittlins

I'll give it a shot ...
you in the gear, are you two revenuers??

not sure where the chittlins thing comes into play ...
Other than the fact that I think it is something you eat, I wouldn't know what a chittlin was if you hit me in the face with one

Skid "you'ins didgahear youseto revanuers chittlins" isn't a phrase it's a list (I should have used commas). Chittlins are something you eat, "revanuers" are federal agents that stomp out liquid free enterprise, "youseto" means used to or you two depending on sentence content, and "didgahear" means did you hear.
I meant no offense to our Finnish friends I just think their language looks beautiful in written form.

I was prettty close ...
I got revenuers correct and you two, and I knew chittlins were food!!

you'ins is a plural for a group of people??

The north appalachian american version of didgahear would be very similar but more of a j than g sound ... didjahear or just plain jahear or wudjahear!!!

Good job Skid! "Youins" means all of you and is not used much outside of east TN. "Yawl" or "you all" (which is correct English) are much more common in the south.

Youins is also common around Anniston Alabama. I learned some strange phrases during my 1 year in the South. Oh, and by the way, Chitlins may be food, but they are inedible. I'd rather eat dog meat.

Where's Jim Cook? I have it on his authority that the plural for "you all" is "all you's all".

Nevermind the umlaats (funny things on top of Finnish "o's") they must have a world champion production line in that country.

If we're talking Southern (pronounced Suthen), let's not forget the ubiquitous "Fixin' To" - which has nothing to do with repairing anything.

In Finland we have this thing called "reilu meininki" = "fair play" :)

If finnish language sounds weird, think about us Finns - all other languages sound as weir to us :D
