I did a quick search on this and didn't see that anyone had posted about it yet.If they have-sorry!
I just got my new 2011 ec 3300 e start! what a fantastic bike! However, i like to plate my bikes to thwart the national forest devils who think that by breaking up the trails with county road access in between, they will have fewer users of the off road trail system.Part of the process is making the bike street legal for the state patrol inspection- I needed a speedo ( thanks Gas Gas for leaving it off).
I bought the trail tech vapor speedo /tach-model 752-102 listed as a KTM model. It is absolutly plug and play- no mods of any kind( except cutting the radiator hose to put the engine temp sensor in). I could not believe how easy it was to intall!!! OK -THANKS GAS GAS, they left all the wires and connectors where they should be! I guess leaving the speedo off was one of the concessions they had to make to getting these fantastic bikes into the USA.But they made it easy for those of us who want one.

I like my key!
I took the ignition mount off, took the ignition out of it, hammered flat the small lip that fits under the top clamp to hold it in position, and then mounted it on a diagonal so that i can reach the ignition. I took pix but am having a bit of trouble downloading them to my computer right now(usb problem i suspect).

I just ordered one of the Gas Gas Red Vapors from GoFaster via my dealer. I recently found out they are selling them as a kit, which comes with the mounting bracket and the speedo cable to the front wheel. Not a bad deal for $164 list. They are due to arrive sometime in April.

I'm sure you will be happy with it- Being a geek i like having all that info available .I think it's funny that the instructions tell you to make sure you pay attention to the road!

A footnote:
i took the bike out for a ride-the vapor works very nicely, however i guess i didn't get the bolt holding the mount to the bar clamp tight enough and it vibrated out.So my spouse found a bolt and nut to replace and put it back together with the addition of some blue lock-tite which got on the mount to the back of the Vapor DON'T DO THIS!! The lock-tite will degrade the plastic and the mount will break off! The folks at Trail Tech were very understanding about the situation and sent us a new mount- we have used their products on many bikes and are happy as usual.

I recommend getting something like this to protect it and hold it better than the flimsy plastic mounts.

Thanks- i have had the trail tech billet mounts on all of my previous bikes- I have not gotten one for the new bike yet because of the ignition placement- I moved the ignition slightly but due to the short wires on the computer and ignition i'm trying to figure out if the billet mount /guard will make it impossible to turn the key.I've been designing an aluminum mount which i can make myself-or it would probably be simpler to just cut a solder wires and use the vapor mount

Hi guys, just installed Vapour on 2011 EC300 and I get no speedo reading. Everything seems to be installed corretly. Magnet is installed in rotor, passing directly in front of sensor threaded into caliper, which is plugged into computer. Im stumped.

I know one person had the same issue with the stock GG Vapor on their 2012. I think they were getting a new one sent out under warranty. Not sure how they got on or if it fixed the issue though. Same deal however, confirmed all the wiring and everything else was working as it was.

vapor is indeed OEM partr in latest EC's

note that the protector plate is really a must for crashers/extremers/bad luckers...
the speedo itself sits on 2 tiny screws directly to lower body plastic, brakes so easily it's a joke (my experience)
note that for E starts with main ignition key, some work on re-setting the entire thing. some drilling is a must and i did also cut and weld

also a temp sensor is available makes it nice to use for technical rides in hot terrains (now i can tell that trail riding is 60D, single tracks are 70D and tight stuff with some dirt digging are 90+ ...)
