I've had them in mine over a year now with two or three sets of tires and no problems. Is he using brand new tires or ones that have been mounted before? Only problem I ever had was using a set of tires that had been used previously with a conventional rim lock. But that was on a set of Excels and not my DID U rims.

+1 using them on my DID wheels.

it is a brand new one.. have heard that on used ones also..

I set up a set of used DID "U" Dirt Stars with Tubliss, no problems. Pirelli MT-43 trials on rear, BStone M59 on front. Prepped rim as per instructions. What I do and is now recommended by Nuetech is paint the liner and inner tire sealing area with Slime. Seals first time, every time.

i will pass that on..

the tubliss seal is between the tubliss and the tire so does not matter what rim you are using (have seen it work on some pretty square rims!)

i usually try to get mine to seal with just soap (windex spray works nice) and once i see it has sealed i then add the slime, but last time i did it i was in a bit of a rush so just added the slime and it sealed up all the small leaks - have to use slime here because of the thorns!

the one thing that need to be quite pedantic about is ensuring that the smaller tubliss valve (the one that pumps to 100) is sitting properly in the hole and not skew and then as i said before use lots of soap when fitting , especially between the tubliss liner and the inner part of the tire i guess it allows some minor movement while pumping

Dont give up on it though, because once you have it working properly you will never want to use anything else!

the tire bead to rim is not usually an issue. the tubliss outer must seal to the tire inner - the slime acts as lubrication and allows the tubliss to fully expand across the rim and get a good seal with the tire inner.. after i install a tubliss (with no tire on it) i usually give it a few pounds and check to make sure it expands across the rim evenly - i have seen it 'hang up' in spots where the rim tape wasn't smooth. since i've started sliming the tubliss and the tire, they always bead up, even when i reverse a tire. done so many of these now (have 4 bikes with tubliss front and rear) that you get really good at it... i hope to never go back to tubes - the tubliss tire changes are much faster with less issues compared to traditional once you get the hang of it.

No problems found after installing, about a year ago, Tubliss on two sets of well used DID "U" Dirt Stars. Pirelli MT-43 trials on the rear, knobbies on the front.

Will try the Slime stuff soon, thanks for the idea.

I have them too on Excell rim without any problems, but a firend used them on DID round shoulder rims and he looses the air pressure over 2 days.
I found out that when a litle bending is in the rim, you will not get them sealed.

Did you remove the nut from the high pressure tube...I couldn't get a good seal around the inner tube valve stem until I removed the nut...I use a tire sealant as well...no issues for the past year.

you talking about the nut at the base of the valve? If so i believe that must stay there or you run the chance of tearing the tube around the valve. The first versions didn't have the nut and i have experienced this tear

Ya that's the one...I don't run the nut on either the front or the rear tire and I use a rear trials tire.
Because it gets so nasty here (weather wise) I'm usually at 3-4 psi on the rear.

I just finished the Manua Kea 200 race, with no issues and have had no issues since I purchased the Tubliss more than a year ago.

I also change and/or flip tires about every month or two depending on wear, I don't let the tires get too worn out.

The new ones have a thick rubber pad on the inside and the small knurled nut on the outside of the HP tube valve. It shouldn't matter what tire or tire pressure you run, the inner tube should not move. Also, the newer ones have a rubber spacer under the rimlock in place of the old metal one. I wanted to update mine, and asked Jeff if I could purchase a couple as I did not see them on the sites store with the other spares. He sent them out the next day for free. What a great company.

Congrats on your Mauna Kea finish!

Thanks,

I raced the "B" masters class and won 1st place in class....and first overall in the entire "B" class.
I had the lowest score out of all "A" class and "B" class riders.
So, got moved to "A" class.
Great to smoke all those new KTM's with my 08 GG

I would think so, being you actually won the A class from B.;) Awesome, thats some tough terrain. Been to the island and area but never rode there, just in Kauai.

he got it fixed... the slime trick did it.. we had a great ride today..

5 riders... 2 gg's... 2 yamahas( one was a 1987 yz250.. old school nice bike) and one pumkin..

great times..
