USA Gas Gas importer ?

REVERUP

Gold Level Site Supporter
What gives? I heard some rumblings a while back and now I heard today that it looks as if Dixie Sales will not be the USA importer of Gas Gas or Husaberg after this September, and as of now there is no replacement!
This coming after I got great news that my sponsor would continue to stand behind me and my choice of racing weapon and get me one of those tricked out 2008 300's so I can retire my now getting dated 2006 to trail riding duty. This even though he is giving the Gas Gas line to another shop.
Now I am very concerned about obtaining a 2008 model. This sucks!:(

I hope I didn't come off sounding like gloom and doom! I just wanted to say, I have since been contacted by a very, very, reliable source and learned a few possible and maybe even probable scenario's that could be a real blessing in disguise and really help keep us die hard Gas Gas guys happy for seasons to come. So this very well may work out to be for the best. Can't wait to hear the pending announcements.:)

Yeah I hope that you are right. I am just a fledgling GG guy and I don't want to have the brand disappear before I really get going. These bike may not be well known but they sell themselves. Now if only someone could figure out how to market them, they could give KTM a run for their money.

The shakey importer situation has been a dark cloud for Gas Gas since the late 90's. The bikes would sell a whole lot better if someone could hang on to distribution for more than 2 or 3 years AND support the racing community at the same time.

Anyone with a money tree in the back yard up for the job?
:p

I agree also! We need to have somebody step up to the plate and market these great bikes!

I think they would & could out sell KTM's in the long run.
Think back to when KTM first came out and we were asking questions then and look where they are at today.

Man if I had that money tree I would do it in a heart beat!

Jeff? You could sell stickers until you started making a profit. :D :D

You got that right. The '07 bike is fantastic. I raced it Sunday and went faster than I did in a long time. I would hate to see things get screwed up now.

KTM is poised on the edge of a major gas cap disaster, with no fix yet. Now is the time for a GG push!

+1

I am in the process of buying my 2nd Gaser and I will never look at another brand of bike. These bikes are just awesome!

Shoooosshhhhh! We don't want everyone knowing about GasGas. Then, every Tom, Dick, and Harry will have one at the races and our advantage will be lost!:D

Keep it a secret....

Yeah, KTM is in a world of hurt with their 1/4 POS cap. Their poor response on this issue will be their downfall. With many diehard KTM fans pissed off, now is the time to easily get new customers.

KTM just plain sucks at customer service, one reason I'm a GasGas rider. This cap issue is a slap in the face and a serious safety issue. The bikes are not that great otherwise to justify this.

I talked to a couple KTM riders at the race last Sunday, that are switching to other bikes, GasGas and Yamaha. They were part of the orange herd but are now saying why? Tired of suspension issues, now the cap is the last straw.

There is more to this than meets the eye. If its so simple, and the company stands to loose so much money, why would they not straighten things out? Its business, not two kids fighting over a toy. I'm not saying there is no problem but I'm sure there is more to it.

I agree with you absolutely...there is more than this than meets the eye, As I understand that Dixe is a Green Company and no one really in the comapny rides or cares..they do it for the money...and they want out of the combustion business.....

and it is sad to say becuase GASGAS..has made a dent in the population here in the US...and they have a small but loyal following same as Husaberg...and Husky soon will be TM

Im not Pushing TM here, but it is an alternative to riders out there,,and as Pre 97 Models of GASGAS were built by TM...

I'm sure that IF gg quits importing or they otherwise implode then most gg riders will switch to some other exotic. I know I will. GG has the complete package when it comes to the bike itself and I'm sure we would be looking beyond the big 5 manufacturers for something similar to GG. TM, Beta, Husaberg, Husky (primed to make it the big 6 w/ BMW money), Sherco, Vertmati etc will all get a shot at the GG market. I for one don't know which way I would lean but it would probably be the direction that would be the closest to the gg 2 stroke experience.

If GasGas were to fail in the US, it would hurt TM as well. Anyone who got burned would be shy of exotics and head for safe ground. The winners would be the big 4 and KTM. Husky also, they are looking good lately. So, I think the small guys need to pull for each other.

Oh, TM motors were used in GasGas chassis until '97.
