Vibes on the exhaust

When I rev my bike I can watch the pipe lift off the exhaust spigot a good 1/8" or so. It has new O-rings. As you can imagine I vibrates like a bastard to the point of feeling it in your teeth. Is there supposed to be a solid washer placed in the pipe before installation? Why is the lower isolator so crappy and has anybody came up with a quality replacement?
 
No washer. Any oring other than Viton is only good for a few rides, silicone wears out and BunaN takes a set and hardens from heat. EricK has been successful using some 44.3mm Viton orings, slightly larger for a tighter fit. I should try this myself on my '07 as the pipe flange is just worn out. What also helps to quiet things down is putting some rubber fuel line over the springs where they can vibrate against the pipe flange. The front isolators on the newer bikes are different, like the ones used on the KTMs. The older bikes used the round cylindrical isolators but they did not line up well especially with the FMF pipes. You could easily make a better isolator from a cylindrical type, a spacer, and the two steel ears of what you have now.
 
I use viton o-rings, smeared with RTV red high temp silicone. For the lower mount I've fabricated a nice big chunky rubber isolator. Seems to work well but still get the occassional vibes. I sat on the bike with it running with the whole bike on the stand the other day.. fluck me you notice the vibes when they wheels aren't there to soak them up. I also replaced the stock springs on my bike as after a while they felt like that had stretched and were far too easy to put on and take off. The new ones are much firmer.
 
Replaced the other rings with some 4mm under sized stretched over the spigot. Nice and tight now. Can't believe the other set of gasgas o rings only lasted 2 rides. Really only had last night and today to get out the door with the bike for an enduro. Always last minute with this stuff. Doh! I will have to source some viton o-rings.
 
I noticed on my 12 the springs were just a bit too long and not really keeping any tension on the pipe. It was as loud as all get out.
 
ON my previous bikes (Jap) there was a compressible copper washer, anyone know if there is one from another bike that will fit the GG, i am sure this will help seal everything up as after one hit the exhaust is not going to sit square on the flange

If you find one let us know Matt. I'll get Clay to hook you up with a factory ride and a season in the states :D My stock spigot is actually showing some wear on one of the seating faces.

Ok Jakobi found something that should work this is the copper washer from a 2005 honda cr250

18309-KZ3-600 WASHER (42X47.5) $6.61

I have measured up the exhaust socket and it is 42x50 so this should work
 
Why hasn't someone designed a pipe/spigot system with a short flex coupler, like on a FWD car to allow a small amount of movement?
 
this was suggested on another forum:

baking trays used to be made of steel, but are now made of silicone. Is it not possible to reinforce that silicone with spring wires to make a 2t header pipe so that it can take a hit and pop back into shape?

Other than that OSSA needs to hurry up their production!
 
Just look at the braided stainless exhaust couplers I mentioned. On the shelf in any auto parts store. Just have something like that in the first couple inches of the header, to flex a bit on a hit and not bend the header section.
