VIN decode for EC 200

Hello. I'm trying to find the year of a bike that I picked up but the owner doesn't know the exact year model. It is an EC200 with a VIN of VTRXC2000012990004. Thanks

It is an EC200 with a VIN of VTRXC2000012990004.

This is an XC version with the K-2 ignition (EC's had the heavier K-3 ignition).

The 10th digit denotes the year. It looks like this is a 2000 model.

EDIT:
I noticed your VIN had 18 digits. VIN's should only have 17 digits. Recheck your numbers because you may have too many 0's in the middle. Your bike may be a 2001 if your 10th digit is a "1".

Wow! Yes you were correct, I entered too many digits in error. So the VIN is VTRXC200012990004 which would make this a 2001 bike. Thanks so much for your help... now I can order the correct parts and bring this bike back to life.
