Water in headlight

2013300

Does anyone know how to seal up the headlight on a 2013 300 any better. I always notice condensation in there, and when the light is used the bulb eventually fails... And I was so excited to have a bike with a light!!!

I had the same issue (eventually) with my 2012... I figured I must have had a crack somewhere in the housing or lens that I couldn't find... I replaced it with a TrailTech. It throws way more light than the stocker...

I had moisture in the 2010 once. Was caused by too much excitement with the pressure washer..

I had one 12 headlight replaced (under warranty),and now the second one is doing the same. Must be a crappy unit?
Which trailtech light did you go for and any mods for it to work correctly?
Cheers Mark

I bought the generic Trailtech X2 and wired it in. I have the North American version EC300R (XC300R) and set it up so low beam comes on when bike is running, like the little marker bulb in the stocker... both come on when switch is activated...
I would have preferred to get something like the Baja Designs Squadron, or the TrailTech X2 HID, but I'm not a friend of 'all things electrical', and I think the install of either of those would become very involved, as I think I would have to change the electrical system... That's way above my electrical ability level, and I can recognize and admit it...
I had the X2 HID on my last bike (Husaberg FE570), and it was simply awesome.
The X2 Halogen is better than the stocker, imo... Not designed for night rides at speed, but will get you out of the woods safely... No mods required, other than splicing wires, as there is no 'GasGas-direct fitment' option to my knowledge... I called and asked.

Ok ,
I was just thinking about buying a squadron or copy of but decided I am not going to spend a heap of money for one 24hr race.
I will get forks revalved properly instead.

headlight issue

My 2011 headlight got water in it also, bulb blew in 2 rides. I removed unit- poured some alcohol into it to try and find where it was leaking-Alcohol is thinner than water. Could not find leak. So I blew it out, then let air dry. New bulbs, then used dielectric grease around running bulb socket and around the rubber headlight cap-to help seal it.

Has not blown yet in next 4 rides, only slight moisture buildup from the heat cycles. Which it drys by the next weekends ride.

yep, i had the same happen. the water contacted the bulb, shattering it
rode the rest of the day only to find the reflective material inside the cover
had been worn off from the shards of glass. $85 @ go-fasters.
