Water pump drain bolt

i use a copper washer, i suspect an aluminium one will do the trick as well, just remember to copper slip that bolt, ive had one seize on me

I've used copper too. Any small washer with a bit of crush will do though. I've had the bolts seize too. I usually replace for a hex head.

Ok thanks. What do you think causes it to seize? I would suspect the copper against aluminum? I did find some aluminum washers I will try out

not sure, it was not the oem bolt so may have had something to do with that. Used a stainless bolt. the washer was fine

Be careful with the torque. Do it up progressively until it just strips, record that torque setting, then cross thread it in with a good slab of red silicone sealant.

Mine was the stock bolt.. Simple corrosion.. Coolant can be corrosive.. and a small hex head can easily round out with too much force applied.

Yeah had to put a hacksaw cut in mine and use the impact driver to remove it on my old 200 I recall.

Thanks mate I'm thinking of writing an antipodean manual for our bikes. Main tool 3lb hammer (must metricise that). . with a decent length of no.8

Here's what I'm drinking. Can says its exported over there. Do try find some. You wont be disappointed. 2 Kiwi and 2 Aussie Hops. Nice.

Been out riding today. Mint.

F5,How about an NZ tool exchange site?
I have a phillips screwdriver that doubles as a punch & bearing extraction tool.
I heard of a guy in Auckland that has nearly a full socket set!Just missing the M8 & M12 & the ratchet only works one way.

I call BS. It's always the 10mm socket that goes AWOL!

Well I've been on the Behemoth again , including a Transtasmin. Its spectacular. Then on to Marlborough savs. Just fantastic.
