What did you do to your Gas Gas today?

As a preparation for this season's first winter race next Saturday, I put on my brand new Mitas studded tires. At the same time, I replaced a rear wheel bearing.

Today I finally finished converting my 2004 FSE 450.

On Saturdays's race, I crashed quite bad and tore out the pushrod from the rear brake master cylinder. Crashed again before I realized I had no rear brake... Rode the last lap with front brake only.

Repaired it yesterday. It was only the locking ring that had been forced out. Straightened the ring and put it back together :)
No damage done (I hope).

I pulled one of mine out of a dusty corner...and rode it. Took my '01 300 out for a spin, yesterday. The last year or so has been spent riding the Beamer, and/or other street bikes I own. I had forgotten how much fun the old Gasser is to ride. I heard the GasGas bikes are too heavy. After riding a BMW F800GS offroad...mine feels light as a feather:D

I had the same happen to me. I think the forcing out rounded the groove for the clip and it happened more and more. Eventually I replaced the Mcguire. Hope yours caused less damage

I didn't really inspect it, but I presume the same thing happened to mine. As the circlip is steel with sharp edges and the groove is in the cast aluminium, some damage has to happen. But the circlip snapped in place with a audible click, so there is some kind of edge left in the groove.
I just have to wait and see. Its not that often that I crash and slide down the road, so I hope it will be a while until next time.
My orange-riding friend pointed out that the KTMs do have an adjuster screw stopping the brake pedal from going too high, preventing this kind of damage. OTOH, if the brake pedal had been locked in place, I think I would have damaged the pedal instead.

Always amazing how fresh plastics and graphics make the bike look new again. Nice looking machine!
It took lot of fiddling to fit it cause the plastic is fore 2t and didn't fit around the tank or in the holes on the radiator.

I had to modify the seet to fill the gap between the seet and the radiator scoop.

Some electrical parts had to be moved. Modify the the end of the rear fender so new light would fit

A few weeks back I rebuilt my forks with new oil and seals. Also shuffled some shims in the compression stack. Have spent 2-3 rides to get the compression clickers where I want them after the adjustment. Yesterday I think I found a good setting, after reducing the pressure in the tires somewhat, and backing out the clickers 3 clicks.
Great fun, as I now feel as confident in the rocks as never before.

Congratulations! I am impressed by people that actually are able to win races.
I am pretty sure I will never win a race, but nonetheless I have great fun participating.

Yesterday, we did our first club race for the season. 28 starters in the "big bike" race (juniors (14-24), seniors (24-49) and veterans (50+). I came 23 total and fifth out of 6 in the veterans.

Rode support for wifey at the Visserhoek Funduro here in South Africa on her modified txt125. She rode some proper tough stuff. Plenty loose rocks. Steep climbs and descents. https://youtu.be/jc-wGjeA5mA
