What did you do to your Gas Gas today?

You know, one of the great things I love about my GasGas is that it isn't a heavy maintenance bike. So, only thing I've done lately is ride it!

The 2011 in back of pic was neglected when I got it but still had original tires . But did lot of stuff to it . This 2010 was ridden hard put up wet . I been working to much to be able to do any riding .

Once you get them sorted you'll have lots of hours of trouble free riding. Only failures I've had over the years is the crank stuffer bolt (fix these ASAP if it's never been done!) and my clutch master cylinder failed.

Now, broken parts from crashes... that's another story! ;)

I’ve been riding Gasgas since 2003 . Started on a mint 2001xc200. Still have it . Then got a 2003 ec300 . Around 2006 that’s new but was flooded in Katrina . Had to go thru it all on that one . Have two more early 250 ec also beside the 2010 and 2011. These are the most durable dirtbikes I’ve ever owned , seen and worked on. And I’ve worked on a bunch over the years.

After 500 hours of use, my clutch is getting pretty worn. It has a Rekluse EXP 3.0. Everything is worn. The basket is very sloppy on it's cushions, I can move it perhaps a mm sideways (radially) and also rotational. The basket is also heavily notched, even the Rekluse clutch hub have marks where the steel plates wear.
The EXP ring is of course also worn. I have overhauled it a couple of times already.

...

Something had to be done. I removed it all yeaterday afternoon,

Luckily, I'm a hoarder. When a lightly used Rekluse Radius CX came up on the national small ad service finn.no a year or two ago, I bought it "Just in case". Hence, I now have one Rekluse, complete with all needed steel and friction plates to, put in. Today, I found Motocrosscenter's last stocked EC200 clutch hub for €165. It's now coming my way on an UPS lorry.

With a bit of luck, I'm back on the bike in a weeks time.
Clutch basket arrived yesterday. To my surprise, it included the gear for the crankshaft. I guess it is wise to replace them as a pair. Hence, I drained the fluid and removed the water pump and RH side cover. However, my youngest son has borrowed my cordless impact wrench so I could't get the bolt at the crank end off. I'll get the wrench back today and continue the work.IMG_20250623_215717.jpg
