What engine oil are you using?

Its about time for the first oil change to my -00 ec300. I was wondering which oil should I use? Wet clutch compatible?

I use gro. Same brand for premix too. There are quite a few choices but i have stuck with gro cause gasgas said they recommend it.

I've used Rotella, both synthetic and dyno.

I've also used pure Walmart ATF as well as a 50/50 blend of ATF and Rotella. Why? I dunno.

I normally use 100% ATF.

sounds like me. i've used them all. currently on rotella... was running 0w-40 amsoil forever, but this bike doesn't seem to mind the rotella. other bikes i've had would have terrible clutch action with it. atf you gotta change more frequently, but i'm changing every 2-4 hours anyways.

The guys oversea's arent going to know about Rotella. Just use a readily available oil that is JASO MA as listed on the bottle and you will be fine.

Hi mate I use putoline it's a Mx oil you have Fuchs or knowen as silkolene, rockoil make gear oil
These are the main ones I use as long as its 80/90 (10/30)for use with wet clutch, fully synthetic ya can't go wrong
What oils can you get hold of??

Oh castrol too and I've used millers before it was left over from my track car

Shell Rotella is sold in Europe as "Helix" I beleive. If they run diesel trucks (they do) then there is a good, reasonably priced oil available. I used to use the 5W-40W synthetic in my '03 because the clutch was more fussy and would drag with a heavier oil, but the '07 and '12 couldn't care less and the 15W-40W is fine. All the MC trans oils are a waste of $$. 200+ hrs on a GG clutch/trans thats still perfectly fine convinced me.

How about winter use, different oil?

:D Juuso I think that these guys (including me) don't even know what real winter means :D

I've used motul transoil 10/30, GRO, Belray Gearsaver. Now I'm using Q8 superbike 10/40. All of those have been working good below -20 C. Warming the engine well before ride is important in arctic circle.

Look for a synthetic diesel oil like our Rotella 5W-40W. I'm sure you guys have appropriate oils for the temperature.

I have been running Mobil1 full synthetic 0-20w year round. No issues with the clutch at all. If I wasn't running it, I would be using the Rotella T6 5-40w full synthetic. Not sure what you have available where you are at.

I change mine every hard ride or race, or every couple trail rides. The Rotella at $13/gal Wallyworld prices works.

Rotella T5 is semi-synthetic, T6 is full synthetic, and they also have a non-synthetic. My experience with gassers mirrors what Glen said - some gassers need the thinner synthetics grades to work their best while others do perfectly well with non-synthetic Rotella. Some clutches just tend to drag a little bit and the thinner oil does help. Why waste money on motorcycle specific oil when Rotella (and probably other automotive oils) work just as well or better.

Rotella 15-40 here. Every 5 hours. I do a lot of up hill woods riding at 8000 to 110000 feet and slip the heck out of my clutch. I don't know how but its in not that bad of shape when I drain it. 40 hours and clutch grabs like new still.
