When the EC200 became 94kg, what happened?

Is there a thread here explaining how the 200 was the same weight as the others until 2009 when it suddenly lost a load of weight and the 250 and 300 did not?

This article gives the most insight that I have found. http://www.gasgas.com.au/21.htm It says the 125, 200 and the 250 4 stroke have the same frame and the rest of the range have another frame. Also the 125, 200 and 250 4 stroke have 45mm forks and the rest have 48mm forks. There is a lot of talk on various thread about the engine casing being different too. Is this enough for a 5kg difference?

Cheers!

As you have said, there isn't a huge difference in parts between the 200 and 250/300.

I'd say they were never as low as 94kg. Maybe a little less than the 250, but not as much as that article would have you believe.

Gasser 200 2strokes run a little lighter than the 250 and 300. Mostly because the engine is a little lighter. Although the engine is mostly the same there are some minor differences. For instance the 200 has no counter weight/balancer on he right end of the crankshaft. The rest of the weight savings may be in smaller, lighter tires on the 200. Starting in 2012 the 2strokes got a new frame that apparently added a few pounds over the 2011 models.
