Which Bearing's should I replace ?

EC250

New member
Hi, I have a 1998 EC 250 and as the bike was on its last legs when I brought it, I just wanted some advice on bearings, I don't think anythings ever been replaced re bearings anyway, what should I replace?
I was thinking about replacing the wheel bearings, back and front and swing arm bearings as I have no clue when this was last done, is this a good place to start or not, and is there any other bearings I should be looking at.

Any help would be appreciated, cheers

What are you hoping to achieve? Are you doing a compete ground up rebuild or just trying to get it trail ready/ridable? If doing the first replace the lot, which will cost $$. If doing the later just go through the bike and check everything for play. Pop the bushings out and inspect how dry/worn they are. Replace what needs it, and add fresh grease to what doesnt.

I want to get it ready for some enduro next year and I ride it on the road also,
Cheers for the advice Jakobi.

It's quite easy to give it a quick survey, you just need to remove the wheels and the swingarm. Wheel bearings are simple to check, rotate them with your finger and if they catch, replace them. They should turn smooth all of the way around, both directions.

Swingarm is easy, too. Support the bike, pop off the shock, and remove the singarm pivot. Once the singer is out, remove the bushings (should be evident what is what). Once you remove the bushings, check for rust or grease. If rust, replace. If grease, refresh and re-install bushings and swinger. Done like dinner.

Search a bit for bushings on this site, but if you have specific questions don't be afraid to ask (like you already did :D ).
